On Tuesday, we held our Annual Career Fair for the 20th year in a row, a tradition that our chapter holds dear to our hearts. Huge shout out to our Company Relations Coordinator, Kenneth Torrico-Pardo, and our Treasurers, Fatima Omarjee-Chavez and Sydney Pettit, for putting this major event together. The George Mason University Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (GMU ASCE) wants to give thanks to the 58 employers that we hosted for dedicating their time to giving professional opportunities to our 155 attendees (consisting of undergraduate, accelerated master's, and graduate students). It is also a great opportunity to see some of our GMU alumni return and become the recruiters! This event was a part of our continuous effort to support civil engineering students at GMU CEIE through career-readiness programs and professional opportunities. #gmuceie

Last week, ASCE at GMU hosted its first career readiness event of the year, our Civil Engineering Industry Panel! This event is a chance for students to ask questions and network with civil engineering professionals, with a specific focus on career development. Congratulations to our 2024 Competition Teams!! 🏅🌉👷♀️🚧🏆 Earlier this month, we had the honor of hosting 10 other schools from the region here at George Mason's campus during the 2024 Mid-Atlantic West ASCE Student Symposium. This event was a culmination of our team's hard work and planning over the last few months, and we're happy to say it was a very successful symposium! Our Steel Bridge team received first place overall, Sustainable Solutions won second place overall, and 3D Printing won first place overall! GMU ASCE also had teams compete in the Surveying and Student Paper competitions. We're so proud of all of our student members for their hard work over the past few months. Over the weekend, the George Mason University Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (GMU ASCE) hosted the Mid-Atlantic West Regional Symposium. Students from D.C. to Pennsylvania competed in various competitions throughout the weekend. George Mason placed in the 3D printing , Sustainable Solutions. Steel bridge placed 1st overall and will be headed to nationals! Overall it was a great weekend filled with learning, new opportunities and fun!

This weekend, I got the opportunity to go to Miami, Florida and attend the 2024 Multi-Region Leadership Conference (MRLC). I got to see many familiar faces and meet many new people, as well as listened to many inspirational leaders. From helpful leadership teaching to impactful life stories, I learned a lot about how to be a stronger leader as well as how to run a successful student chapter. I have many ideas to incorporate to our chapter alongside my colleagues that joined me, and I can't wait to put my newfound skills to the test. I want to thank everyone for teaching me all the things I learned this weekend and I hope you all have the same energy to bring back to your chapters.

It was such an amazing opportunity to attend the ASCE Multi Region Leadership Conference in Miami this weekend! From touring the Miami Worldcenter, to all sorts of leadership challenges and activities, and connecting with students, professionals, and younger members, this was an experience like no other.
