The Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership is a workforce development accelerator that provides students and businesses with resources to optimize the mutual benefits of work-based learning. Our regional V-TOP representative, the Rappahannock Work and Learn Collaborative, is offering a free workshop designed to help organizations learn how to develop high-quality, mutually beneficial internship experiences, satisfy the training prerequisite to qualify for state-funded support (50% funding match and/or staffing agency services) for creating or expanding an internship program, and network with other local employers. UVA Wise has been designated as an Apple Distinguished School for a second consecutive term. The College at Wise was first honored in 2021 as an Apple Distinguished School for its 1:1 iPad program, an initiative that provides each full-time student, faculty and staff with an iPad, Apple Pencil and smart keyboard in order to bridge the digital divide for students. Since then, UVA Wise faculty, staff and students have taken full advantage of the world of possibilities that begin on the touch screen of the iPad. Now, UVA Wise’s first-year experience also allows for students to craft digital portfolios that showcase milestones, to interact with advising materials, to access guided course reflections, and to store placeholders for capstone projects.
