Crafting a clear vision is one of the most transformational exercises you can do. Here are three powerful steps that have worked for our Gobundance community and will help you create an effective 5-year vision: 1. Write it as if it’s already happened: Fast-forward five years and describe your life in detail. Where are you? What are you doing? Be specific. Visualizing this as if it’s already real is key to turning it into reality. 2. Focus on yourself: Your vision should be centered on you, not on others. Avoid writing things like, "My kids are straight-A students" or "My partner’s business is thriving." Keep it focused on what you can control. 3. Keep the "how" out of it: This is often the hardest part. When crafting a vision, avoid getting bogged down in how you’ll achieve it. This is about setting the North Star; the steps will follow. One of our members joined Gobundance while working a high-paying executive job but felt unfulfilled. During his first year in Gobundance, he crafted a 5-year vision where he imagined leaving the corporate world, traveling the world with his family, and building passive income streams through investments and a personal brand. At the time, it felt like a dream. But, five years later, he's accomplished exactly that—leaving the 9-5, creating a thriving business, and traveling the globe with his family for months at a time.
