Thank you, Brian Heck, for all you've done for PDCA during your presidency. Your support has been constant, your dedication apparent, and your passion unmatched. "While my service as president is ending, I will be spending next year as past president," writes Brian in his President's Message in Issue 6 of #PileDriverMagazine. "But it will not end there. I will continue to volunteer my time to PDCA in other ways. I have sincerely got more back than I have put in over these six years that I’ve been involved... "PDCA celebrates 30 years as an organization next year... It takes all of us – if you’ve been on the sidelines, why not make our 30th anniversary year the one you get more involved? We could use your help in 2025 and beyond. Whether you see yourself taking a more active role in a PDCA chapter, joining a committee or participating in PDCA events, there’s always a spot for you where you can have impact." Brian Heck – THANK YOU. #PDCADriven #piledriving | Goettle

A project that necessitated blood tests on all workers before and after site work to detect any potential exposure to hazardous substances? That's just one hurdle that Goettle dealt with for its work on the BP ECI Barrier Wall, a wall system required to seal off an existing site from the Lake George Canal in East Chicago, Ind. The existing site had contaminants in the ground that had to be sealed off from the canal in preparation for an upcoming dredging project. The barrier wall was designed as a combi-wall system and consisted of a driven king pile bulkhead wall anchored to a discontinuous deadman wall through tie rods. A groundwater management system, comprising nine caissons formed by installing sheet pile pairs on both flanges of two king piles, facilitated groundwater through the site. JD Fields & Company, Inc. supplied all steel and coordinated barge deliveries with Goettle, who relied on their company-owned The Manitowoc Company and Link-Belt Cranes crawler cranes and vibratory hammers from ICE, Inc. - International Construction Equipment, Inc for installation. The site was designated as Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (#HAZWOPER). As such, all site workers underwent HAZWOPER 40-hour training and wore respirators during excavation. Read about the significant challenges on this project and how Goettle overcame them in the latest issue of #PileDriverMagazine – find the link in the comments below. #PDCADriven #piledriving #earthretention #steelsheetpiles

Proud of our very own David Mueller, P.E. of Goettle and Daniel Woeste, PE of Geosyntec Consultants for their outstanding presentations at the 54th Annual Ohio River Valley Soils Seminar! The iconic Great American Ball Park made for a perfect backdrop to this prestigious engineering gathering. Special thanks to ASCE Cincinnati Section Geotech Group for organizing another successful event. As both a sponsor and member, Goettle continues to support excellence in geotechnical engineering!
