This past Friday October 25th, the Learning Pavilion hosted its annual Trunk or Treat. The children and the families had a blast sharing an afternoon full of candy, costumes and games at the Learning Pavilion parking lot. The children went around trick-or-treating and playing mini games to receive their candy and stopped by the attractions such as the bouncy castle and the hayride. Today, Goodwill Industries - Big Bend, Inc. gave a presentation to the Tallahassee Board Of Realtors about Goodwill's mission of providing career training, education and job placement for the Big Bend community. Goodwill was thankful to have the opportunity to share how donations and shopping changes lives. Donors and customers allow Goodwill to provide career services to over 6,500 individuals annually. Following the devastation of Hurricane Helene, Goodwill Industries - Big Bend, Inc. donated children's costumes to The American Legion, Department of Florida of Steinhatchee. In partnership with the American Red Cross, and other local organizations, Goodwill has provided thousands of dollars in vouchers to aid those affected by the hurricanes. This is made possible by the continuous donations of the Big Bend community. Every donation made to Goodwill Industries - Big Bend, Inc. helps provide ongoing relief to hurricane victims. Goodwill is proud to support the Steinhatchee community during this challenging time.

Our focus today was on the CNA, Construction and Google certification courses Goodwill offers students and adults at no cost to participants. The Young Professionals Network and the Central Panhandle Association of REALTORs gathered for a Lunch-and-Learn, touring Goodwill Industries - Big Bend, Inc.'s new Career Resource Center in Springfield, FL. They learned about various job training programs that are offered at no cost, including bookkeeping, computer programming and construction. Thanks to donations from the Big Bend community, Goodwill offers initiatives, like online certification courses and the Certified Nursing Assistant program, to help individuals achieve their career goals. A big thank you to the Young Professionals Network and the Central Panhandle Association of REALTORs for visiting to learn about Goodwill's mission. Goodwill looks forward to hosting the Bay County Chamber of Commerce at our next Lunch-and-Learn on November 7th.

This weekend, Kim Masino from MASINO MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES, INC purchased linens, shoes and adult diapers from Goodwill Industries - Big Bend, Inc.'s Valparaiso store to support victims of Hurricane Helene. Ms. Masino is collaborating with Special Operation Forces to gather essential items for retired members affected by the hurricane. Thank you for your continued service. Goodwill is proud to support the community by offering affordable items that can meet various needs. From clothing and household goods to specialized products, Goodwill is dedicated to providing resources that help all individuals and families.

The grand opening for the new Career Resource Center on Thursday, September 19th was a huge success! Through the power of Goodwill, individuals will achieve their career goals through education, training, and job placement. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate this milestone! At 13,000 square feet, this is Goodwill Industries - Big Bend, Inc.'s largest Career Resource Center, housing multiple computer labs and classrooms, six employee/partner cubicles and a room dedicated to Goodwill’s Certified Nursing Assistant program. Training programs for construction, digital tech, bookkeeping and other careers will also be offered on-site. A special thank you to Florida Power & Light for their $10,000 grant which will further support Goodwill's mission of equipping individuals with the necessary skills to succeed in today’s job market. Thank you to our local officials, Board of Directors and team members for making this event possible.
