Our Backpack Giveback was a SUCCESS!! This year, we were able to provide more than 2,000 backpacks to children throughout the towns we serve. These backpacks were filled with the essentials to help prepare kids for the school year ahead! We are so thankful to our organizational partners who helped us distribute these backpacks: Bridgeport Caribe Youth Leaders, Educational Resources for Children, Inc., Family Centers, New Opportunities, Inc., Town of Brookfield, Hartford Yard Goats Baseball, The Village for Families & Children None of this would be possible without the support of individuals who gave monetary gifts and our incredible sponsors: PLATINUM - Associated Insurance Services GOLD - ADP, Connecticut Sewer Rooter, HUB International, New Horizon Communications, Upright labs.

Last Sunday’s storm caused incredible devastation across several towns here in Connecticut. One of the areas most effected has been the Town of Oxford - collapsed homes, cars swept away in floods, lives forever changed. This week, led by our CEO’s Heather Marquis and Jeffrey Neff, our Goodwill has actively taken steps in supporting the Oxford community, setting up alongside the American Red Cross, Team Inc., and Salvation Army to provide food, comfort kits, clothing, and more. Tomorrow, we will join other organizations, businesses, and individuals, to provide support to the Town of Oxford. If you or someone you know needs assistance, please stop by. If you have a service that can provide help to those impacted, please join us. Together, we can make a difference for our neighbors in need. Would you like to support relief efforts for families impacted by the storm? Please consider a donation to the Team Inc. Flood Relief Fund: https://lnkd.in/eK6AviV3 The Rebuild Expo takes place Saturday, August 24th from 9-4pm at Quarry Walk Oxford

We had a blast going to the Hartford Yard Goats Baseball game last week where our Interim Co-CEO Heather Marquis threw out the first pitch! It was a great night of baseball with several Team Members in the stands. We can't wait to be back at Dunkin' Park again to cheer on the Goats in their 2024 Playoff run. We are incredibly grateful to the men, women, and their families who sacrificed to serve our country. Veterans like our associate, Rico. We met Rico shortly after he moved to Connecticut and needed assistance with housing and employment. While he is stoic in the photo, Rico is full of energy and positivity in life - believing that what he puts into the world will return to him. That positive energy has lifted Team Members and Managers alike. Goodwill is proud to provide the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program, helping Veterans in need find housing and employment. In the last year, we have helped 25 Veterans reintegrate into the community with stable jobs and improved living conditions. We are honored to provide a hand up for Veterans in our community. Learn more about this work at https://lnkd.in/e_DM4xA6 May we always support those who sacrificed for us all. Happy Veterans Day.
