About us
Grace House Akron (GHA) is grounded in the knowledge that there are too many individuals in our community, who are at the end of life, with nowhere to go, and no one to care for them. We believe that everyone deserves to die in the presence of care, compassion, and dignity, and that no one should die alone. Our mission is to provide a loving home for indigent, homeless and abandoned individuals at the end of life. Our vision is to provide access to compassionate care and comfort, at the end of life for anyone in the greater Akron area, at no cost. We fulfill our mission and vision by providing those at the end of life, in conjunction with partner hospice teams, a nurturing environment, basic physical needs (food, safe shelter and personal care), dignity, comfort and compassion, and emotional and spiritual support. GHA serves vulnerable, hospice enrolled adults in Summit County, with terminal illnesses, who are without caregiver support and would otherwise spend their final days alone and/ or in undesirable conditions. Risk factors include homelessness, housing insecure, mental health issues, addiction disorders, abandoned or friendless, poverty/indigency; veteran or refugee status, disability and addiction/ dependency.

We started our week with the wonderful volunteers from the Vincent William Baran Day of Service. They had a group of 10 who worked so well together to plant 200 tulip bulbs. We were so impressed by them! We can't wait to see these tulips bloom in the spring; we will think of you and the Mighty Vincent when they do. Thank you for all your hard work! Last night, we held a special event for donors to see how far we've come over the last two years. It was a beautiful evening. We want to thank the donors who attended and our volunteers who helped with this event, from prepping our garden to setting up the tent, preparing hors d'oeuvres, bartending, music, etc. You constantly amaze us!
