GRADE New York is an architecture and interior design firm focusing on high end residential projects globally.
About us
GRADE New York is an award-winning, full-service design firm led by Thomas Hickey and Edward Yedid. Since 2004, the firm's design approach has been and continues to be a holistic one, rooted in the belief that integrating architecture and interior design from the outset creates the most beautiful, balanced and cohesive solutions. As a leader in luxury residential design, we specialize in New York City apartments, lofts, landmark residential conversions and large-scale residential real estate developments, in addition to designing homes in the Greater New York area—including Westchester, Connecticut and the Hamptons—and beyond, with projects in Aspen, Miami, Los Angeles and a number of international cities. GRADE has received several design awards (AIA Long Island Chapter, AIA Brooklyn-Queens Chapter, SARA NY, NYCxDesign), and in 2019 the firm's first monograph, titled New York Contemporary, was published by The Monacelli Press.

This week, we are pleased to announce a new initiative at GRADE marked by the promotion of two of our senior team members! As we continue growing our team to align with the scope and reach of our projects, the time has come to expand our leadership structure. This new development will shape the direction of the firm’s continued growth in the coming years, and, thus, we are excited to announce the promotion of Erik Malavé and Adam Amelchenko in their new roles as Principals! Over the past decade, Erik and Adam have pioneered the growth and advancement of the firm, not only as designers, but also as mentors to our staff and steady leaders alongside the Partners. We are grateful for all their contributions and look forward to what this new chapter of our firm holds! Headshots: Federica Carlet #architecture #interiordesign #designstudio #principals #leadership

Thank you once again to Jacqueline Terrebonne and team for the beautiful feature on our Fifth Avenue Pied-À-Terre in Galerie Magazine! It's always an honor, and we're excited for yet another project reveal in the coming weeks! On this New York City jewel box apartment, Sophie Aliece Hollis writes: "Pairing the firm’s architectural prowess with its inside access to the collectible art and design market, GRADE infused each space with carefully balanced contrasts: traditional and modern, textured and sleek, muted and bold, rounded and rigid, hard and soft." Throughout the design process, we explored ways in which this built environment will support, coexist with, and bring harmony to the surrounding ecosystem through the realization of a beautiful and meaningful piece of architecture. The 15,0000 SF residence will offer a well-designed, immersive donor experience, juxtaposing modern architectural language with raw contextual materials, textures, and finishes, while facilitating numerous potential positive impacts, even indirectly, on land, ecosystems, wildlife, and community. We're thrilled to be a part of this effort with Wild Tomorrow. More progress updates to come! GRADE Day 2022 took us upstate to MANITOGA, the former home and 75-acre woodland garden of American industrial designer Russel Wright, and a stop off in historic Cold Spring, New York for a team photo by the Hudson River. One of our annual firm traditions, GRADE Day is a day spent together, outside the studio, exploring new sites, design, art, and architecture. And for this year's retreat, we're keeping it close to home—right here in New York City. #GRADEDay #architectureandinteriors #designstudio #retreat
