She’ll Invest in – and better organize – our processes and our people in the cafe, baking, wholesale, and facilities teams, with a big focus on helping us grow into a Perpetual Purpose Trust by 2026. The good news is, she’s uniquely qualified to help us improve how we make amazing baked goods without compromising our mission. Here’s why: - She brings more than 26 years of operations experience, with 16 years at Starbucks and 10 at New Seasons Markets. - During her tenure at New Season’s, she completely overhauled the grocery chain’s store opening process before creating and leading a new strategy department that supported company growth after the pandemic. - While at New Season’s, she oversaw the opening of six new stores, including the first Seattle store on Mercer Island. - Her approach is holistic – she sets strategy, measures efforts, creates buy-in at all levels, identifies gaps, and meets goals. - Her skillset lies where processes and people meet to make things better. - She is energetic, positive, funny, and a true team player. She views the Grand Central employees – many of whom are veterans of the business – as smart, creative, positive, and absolute experts in what they do. From rolling nearly 1.5 million croissants to rolling with a dedicated Pastry team over the last 17 years, Lani Ransom’s passion for pastries and people is as strong as ever. 🥐 Lani is a Pastry Production Manager, overseeing our talented morning team of bakers and expeditors, and ensures every delectable Grand Central creation from her team meets the highest standards. She was originally hired as an intern while studying at Western Culinary Institute, and loved the atmosphere and genuine connection to the company’s leadership. GCB offered her a permanent job as a baker in 2008, and she’s steadily worked her way through the Pastry team ever since, landing the manager role in 2023 “I have grown up here, and it means a lot to me to be able to take all of that experience and history, and use it to help take this department to the next level. I’m dedicated to creating the best work environment possible so our Pastry team is THE place to be.” Lani’s advice for any newcomers to the team is to bring your passion and curiosity, and the rest will follow.
