We spy Jacqueline Lensing enjoying M25 & Upfront Ventures' Summer Soiree during TechChicago Week 👀 It's been a great week for our team as James Hill, Nathan Owen and Jacqueline Lensing all spent time in the windy city connecting with startups, investors, and partners. 🌆

📬 Today, the Michigan Venture Capital Association released their 2024 Impact Report which highlights the resilience, innovation, and growth that define Michigan’s venture capital and entrepreneurial ecosystems. A few key metrics we enjoyed seeing: 💰 2023 saw the most capital raised by Michigan-based funds of the past decade, overtaking 2016’s tally of approximately $450 million (including Grand Ventures' announcement of our $50M Fund II). 💸 VC dollars invested remained strong at just over $1 billion in aggregate, while completed financings also held steady relative to 2022 at 182 in total. 🚢 The diversification of industries receiving investment might surprise non-Michigan readers. Life sciences, healthcare, and software companies still dominate, though strategic investments in mobility may be starting to pay off (Healthcare, Developer Tools & Supply Chain are 3/4 of our target sectors, Fintech is the 4th). 👏 A special thanks to Ara Topouzian, Susan Renno, Patti Glaza, Camila Noordeloos (board member) and the entire MVCA team for their work on this project.
