This GA-designed home was completed 25 years ago. Rich spotted it while on a boat in Sag Harbor. Located in North Haven Point, the 6,000 sf home is classic Shingle Style with a twist. The use of an oversized eyebrow dormer at the Primary Bedroom creates a strong symmetry, while the 1st floor covered porch shades the main rooms and provides a great space to lounge and take in the views.

“The devil is in the details”. This shot of a recently-completed project in Old Greenwich exemplifies a host of layering in design, detailing and materials: Shou Sugi Ban Accoya rainscreen siding, native New England stone veneer, a Tesla Solar Roof, cantilevered balcony, new landscaping integrated with existing specimen plantings, modern steel greenhouse, custom granite paver slabs, a flagpole, and even a skylight / cupola expressed as a “glass chimney” that acts as a lightwell bathing the interior in natural light!

Congratulations to Erin Marr on her 5th Anniversary at GA. Erin is a Graduate of the Parsons School and spent many years working for distinguished NYC firms before coming back to her hometown Greenwich to work for Granoff Architects as a Senior Interior Designer. Erin was recently promoted to Director of Interior Design at the firm, and leads a team of 6 in her Studio. She works on a variety of “high design” projects that include Workplace, Multifamily and Hospitality. Cheers to Erin on the next five years!

GA is renovating a Midcentury Modern house at Stratton Mountain in VT, designed in 1964 by legendary architect Eliot Noyes. The 5-bedroom home has a post-and-beam frame, walls and ceilings of cedar; all of which are being sanded/restored. New Klar sliding glass doors and windows have just been installed, and an all-electric heat pump heating and cooling system has been installed. When completed in December, the home will be completed restored to its original condition; and updated for the next generation of skiers!

Granoff Architects “Green Building Group” met again this Wednesday. The team is studying the renovation of an existing cabin using PassiveHouse details. The session included a 3D rendering and a mockup of the building’s proposed wall composition.
