On October 24, 2024, nine officers from #YourAlbertaRCMP were proud recipients of Decorations for Bravery from Her Excellency, the Right Honourable Mary Simon. This medal represents an ultimate act of selflessness and sacrifice, honouring individuals who have demonstrated outstanding courage in the face of dangerous circumstances, putting their life on the line to protect others. Cst. Wynn, awarded posthumously, was one of these officers celebrated for his courageous actions while on-duty. When faced with adverse conditions, he and his fellow recipients did not chose the path of least resistance. Instead, they put themselves directly in harm’s way, in order to save lives. We thank them for their service and courage. To learn more about their acts of bravery, visit: https://bit.ly/48pco4t

  • We’d like to congratulate S/Sgt. Ray Savage, who was recently awarded the 2024 International Assoc. of Chiefs of Police (IACP) award for Excellence in Law Enforcement. This prestigious award was presented to S/Sgt. Savage for his work to create the National Reintegration Program (NRP), which has been recognized as a standout example of innovation, and the success of which could only be recognized with the vision and leadership of people like Ray. The NRP was developed by Alberta RCMP in 2015 and became a national RCMP program in 2021. This officer-led, peer-driven program is dedicated to ensuring members are comfortable and confident returning to full operational duties after being involved in a traumatic or critical incident, career transition, or return from extended leave. Since its inception, the NRP has emerged as a standard of support for all RCMP officers. S/Sgt. Ray Savage is pictured here alongside Alberta RCMP Commanding Officer D/Commr. Rob Hill, and RCMP Commr. Mike Duheme. For more information on the program, visit: https://bit.ly/3C3J3k5 #YourAlbertaRCMP

  • Today on #GoBlue Day, wear blue or turn on blue lights in support of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Child abuse comes in many forms—physical, emotional, sexual, and neglect. Too often, suspicions go unreported due to uncertainty or fear. Remember, if you suspect child abuse, you have a legal duty to report it. If a child is in immediate danger, call 911. If a child discloses abuse to you, contact your local police non-emergency line. Be the voice that makes a difference. Child abuse is preventable and we all have a role to play! #YourAlbertaRCMP

  • This month marked the inaugural Alberta RCMP Commanding Officer’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Leadership Aware presentation. The award is presented to an individual or team that shows a personal passion for achieving EDI in their workplace or community, outside of their regular mandate. Candidates are outstanding individuals or teams who have innovated, impressed and made a real difference in enhancing community trust and creating a corporate culture that is fair, supportive and inclusive; they have championed leadership behaviours consistent with the concepts of EDI. This year’s award was presented to Corporal Nader Khalil for his outstanding achievements in promoting a work environment that is welcoming, supportive, and nurturing of cultural, ethnic, racial, gender, sexual orientation, and other human differences. Cpl. Khalil has dedicated over a decade of his career to promoting EDI principles in a variety of settings. From his work as a Peer-to-Peer Coordinator, providing guidance to coworkers on how to promote EDI values while navigating workplace issues, to actively supporting newcomers to Canada, strengthening relationships and instilling trust within these populations. He has always prioritized maintaining and nurturing relationships within the workplace and with community groups. His commitment to EDI has resulted in robust partnerships between law enforcement and the community, creating improved relationships and collaborative decision-making. Cpl. Khalil has dedicated countless hours outside of his regular duties to ensure fellow officers and Albertans across the province have the support and assistance they require. We are proud of the exemplary work of officers like Cpl. Khalil and the many others that make #YourAlbertaRCMP.
