Nurse practitioner vs. doctor—what's the difference? https://hubs.la/Q02N91_k0 #medicine #nursing #urology
About us
Greater Boston Urology is the premier integrated urology practice in New England. Founded in 2010 by Dr. Michael J. Curran, who serves as our chief executive officer, GBU has assembled a team of excellent physician-partners who serve multiple locations across Greater Boston, the South Shore, and the Cape and Islands. Today, our board-certified physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and pelvic floor physical therapists provide world-class care to our loyal patient communities. From the time patients walk through our doors, we strive to manage all of their urologic care under one roof. Think imaging studies, diagnostic testing, pathologic testing, and surgical treatments. This makes GBU unique, and we’re proud of this distinction. We’re also proud to have such a dynamic group of individual physicians who can take care of so many different needs. We have great relationships with all of the surrounding hospitals and referring primary care physicians as well. We’ve created this network of care centers throughout eastern Massachusetts, including the Cape, so that it’s convenient for you to see one of our physician partners. Bottom line: we’re here for you to ensure you get the care that you need.

Take a moment to read this important message from one of our urologists, Dr. Micah Hemani, and consider donating to this important cause if you can! DR. HEMANI: As physicians, we help our patients through life-altering moments. But for our patients and their families, often a diagnosis impacts every minute and every aspect of their lives. I have had fourteen years of first-hand experience with this. When my daughter, Norah, was just six-months old, she had her first seizure. A few months later she was diagnosed with a rare and catastrophic form of epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome. While Norah is a happy, delightful 14-year-old girl, her life has also been severely impacted by her diagnosis—it has affected her cognitive functioning, her physical functioning, and her ability to do many of the things that most of us take for granted. Her limitations and medical needs have also greatly impacted the four other members of my family. On November 3, I will be running the TCS New York City Marathon to support the Dravet Syndrome Foundation, an organization that my wife helped to build from the ground up, and that is dedicated to helping Dravet patients and their families obtain the resources they need, and also to fund research that will help with the development of treatments and, hopefully someday soon, a cure for Dravet Syndrome. The work being done by the Dravet Syndrome Foundation is not only helping kids like Norah and their families today, it also brings hope that, for the next generation of kids born with Dravet Syndrome, the diagnosis may no longer impact every minute and every aspect of their lives.
