Government Affairs in Action Roundup! GHBA members have been actively engaging with elected officials, city officials and key stakeholders who can help positively impact housing production and the residential construction industry. Here are the highlights: First, a big thank you to the Houston Permitting Center and Council Member Sallie Alcorn for joining us at the Custom Builder and Remodelers Council luncheon, where they played a fun round of "Permitting Jeopardy!" Congratulations to the winning team – Executive Director of the Houston Permitting Center, Rudy Moreno, Council Member Sallie Alcorn and GHBA CEO Aimee Bertrand. We were also honored to host Texas Rep. Lacey Hull, who visited the GHBA office to speak with our HOME-PAC Trustees about the challenges facing the homebuilding industry and the pro-business policies that can drive our economy forward. Thank you for your time, Lacey! We would also like to thank Montgomery County Government Director of Engineering Services, Thomas Wooley, and the Chief External Affairs Officer for the Harris County Flood Control District, Emily W., for their helpful presentations at our Developers Council meeting. Lastly, a special thank you to Joshua Sanders, Director of Intergovernmental Relations for the City of Houston Mayor's Office, for sharing his experiences and insights from the past 10 months during our Government Affairs meeting. With early voting right around the corner, we want to remind our home builders to head to the polls! #LetBuildersBuild #WeBuildWeVote
