Creating healthier urban spaces in harmony with nature.
About us
At GreenBlue Urban, we're all about sustainable cities - environmentally sustainable, economically sustainable, and socially sustainable. To us, that means creating cities where people want to live, work, and visit. We work every day to help landscape architects and civil engineers accomplish this through the successful design and implementation of green and blue infrastructure. More specifically, we facilitate beneficial ecosystems, allowing trees planted in hardscape areas to reach their full potential. Our research stems back to 1992, when we first introduced ArborSystem to the market. Since then, we have helped over 500,000 trees in their battle to establish in urban areas, with the goal of drastically improving urban planting success and increasing leaf canopy in our cities, in order for our urban forests to bestow all the benefits that they offer. Exciting progress in sustainable drainage! Four GreenBlue Urban SuDSPods were installed at Deysbrook Village Centre, helping to tackle local flooding issues. Great to see innovation in action, big thanks to everyone involved!
Wow what a busy few weeks! Things are really ramping up in the world of Rainwater Management at United Utilities and it really feels like we are moving in the right direction 👏🏻 This week I had the pleasure of managing the install of 4 GreenBlue Urban SuDSPods at a community centre in the heart of Deysbrook, Liverpool - the Deysbrook Village Centre, an area that unfortunately suffers with flooding. I also was able to meet with local Councillor John Prince and talk to him about innovative sustainable drainage solutions. Big thanks to Lowther Forestry Group Ltd for their support. This is just the start of our plans in Deysbrook and I’m in the process of planning our biggest ever slow-release water butt roll-out to local residents. #uniteditilities #suds #sustainabledrainage #rainwatermanagement

Maximising your development’s value? The secret is hiding in plain sight – the LANDSCAPE! Green spaces aren’t just aesthetic, they’re a commercial asset. Homebuyers pay a 51% premium for properties in National Parks, 48% more in National Landscapes, and 46% higher in National Scenic Areas. In London, proximity to a park can boost property prices by 84.8%. By integrating green-blue infrastructure from the outset, developers can streamline planning approvals, cut engineering costs, and create high-value, resilient communities. With sustainability and climate resilience now essential, a landscape-first approach isn’t just smart, it’s profitable. Want to know more? What if our streets could fight floods, clean the air, and look stunning - all at the same time? That’s exactly what Greener Grangetown set out to achieve. This ground breaking project transformed 13 streets in Cardiff, integrating SuDS and urban tree planting to revolutionise the way we manage rainwater. The main focus? Harnessing nature to work smarter, not harder. By planting 135 trees across 19 species, alongside innovative rain gardens and linked tree pits, this project naturally filters rainwater before it reaches the River Taff, reducing runoff, improving biodiversity, and making streets more vibrant and resilient. This is the future of urban development, where trees and SuDS aren’t just add-ons, but essential infrastructure. Spring has arrived, and with it, a spectacular burst of colour in our cities! 🌸 At St. Peter’s Square in Manchester, the stunning Foxglove trees are once again putting on their annual display, transforming the space with vibrant purple blooms. These trees not only enhance the urban landscape but also create a lasting legacy for future generations to enjoy. As new tree plantings take root across the UK, we’re excited to see more of our towns and cities come to life this season! #SpringInBloom #UrbanForests #GreenerCities

What do all these images have in common? They’re all projects we’ve delivered across London, each one proving that trees and greenery are essential in shaping cooler, more liveable cities. As our urban areas get hotter, it’s more important than ever to design with nature in mind, not just for shade, but for resilience, well-being, and the future of our communities. The Urban Heat Island Effect is real, but so is the solution. By increasing canopy cover, we’re not just reducing temperature, we’re creating spaces where people can gather, breathe, and thrive. We’re proud to be making London greener, one project at a time. Because a city that works with nature is a city that works for everyone. Urban trees are facing more extreme weather than ever before. With floods, droughts, and powerful winds becoming more frequent due to climate change, our trees need extra support to survive. But there’s a solution! Incorporating soil cell systems with SuDS into your designs will help promote deep, healthy roots, ensuring trees stay strong in harsh conditions, reduce flooding, and remain hydrated during dry spells.

Thriving Trees in a Harsh Coastal Climate? It’s not just possible, it’s proven! At BBC Roath Lock Studios in Cardiff, 154 trees have defied the odds, standing strong against salt spray, high winds, and fluctuating temperatures for 14 years and counting. The secret? Our soil cell technology, which provided the essential root support, soil volume, and stability needed for long-term success. Thanks to smart engineering and thoughtful species selection, this once-derelict space is now a resilient, green landmark. With the right trees and the right foundation, even the toughest environments can flourish!
