    🚨 On July 1, 2024 California mandated new workplace violence prevention training for various high-risk industries including healthcare, retail, hospitality, and education. This legislation came into effect due to the alarming increase in occurrence of workplace incidents and employee personal safety concerns, and the severity of the incidents. 🔑 What You Need to Know: 1. Workplace Violence Prevention Plans: Employers with 10 or more employees in most industries must create detailed plans that outline procedures for reporting, assessing, and preventing violence.    2. Training Requirements: All employees (including temp and contract workers) must be trained to recognize, report, and respond to potential violence.    3. Reporting & Recordkeeping: Businesses must keep detailed records of incidents and report major incidents to Cal/OSHA. 4. Annual Assessments: Regular evaluations of workplace safety programs are required to ensure effectiveness and compliance. Non-compliance could result in penalties, increased scrutiny, or lawsuits.
