We were established in 2010 with a vision of employing innovative energy and engineering solutions to sustainably manage the Earth’s resources and to meet society's needs. Our Powering Africa Summit (#PAS24) panel today bridged the past, present and future to unpack: ⏪ What we HAVE done ▶ What we ARE doing ⏩ What we SHOULD BE doing ...to increase energy access in Africa 🌍 Our panelists unpacked how we should focus our collective efforts over the next 10 years: 😀 Go local! Investment in local people, finance and development is key - these are the people that stay, that figure things out and that get things moving. 😟 Go local! When the shocks (think the recent pandemic and war in Ukraine) come; local people and business stay when the going gets really, really tough. 💪 Go local! To strengthen power systems and share power in good times and in bad times. 🤝 Bring in unlikely partners. 💲 Get early stage investment that is urgently needed; not just investment at financial close when all the hard work has been done. ⚡ Drive up demand to make solutions sustainable; don’t just try to drive down cost on the supply side. 📊 Rely on empirical risk not perceived risk and correctly profile risk on the African continent to get more foreign direct investment. ❗ Treat it as a crisis: There is no world where you can have 500 million people without energy access in 2030 (at the current trajectory) AND meet your climate goals in 2030 if we don’t treat it as the crisis that it is. And, finally, in the words of Damilola Ogunbiyi, “People must be at the ♥ of what we do, always”. Green Powered Technology is seeking a Subcontracts Manager to support the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Infrastructure Field Support (IFS) II contract and other projects. The purpose of the IFS II project is to support USAID’s Center for Environment, Energy, and Infrastructure by providing engineering technical assistance to USAID Headquarters personnel in Washington, D.C., field missions, and other operating units for short-term assignments related to USAID’s infrastructure, engineering, and construction portfolio. GPTech provides infrastructure services including infrastructure planning, engineering design, construction supervision, and related support. GPTech provides technical support for all phases of an infrastructure project life-cycle—from inception to turnover.
