About us
We are now hiring year-round, so it’s always a great time to join GPD! Our officers patrol designated areas of the city and are responsible for the prevention of crime, investigation of offenses, and apprehension of violators. Officers also respond to automobile accidents, crimes in progress and other emergency situations, and are required to exercise judgment and initiative in handling both routine and complex problems. Being an officer is demanding yet rewarding; come join the Greensboro Police Department if you are up to the challenge!

A friendly reminder from your friends at GPD. With colder weather coming in, you may want to "start your car" to get the heat going and let it sit in your driveway. This is completely fine BUT BEWARE! Auto thefts increase in the winter as thieves see unlocked, running cars just sitting there. Be sure to lock your car (if possible) after starting it to prevent yourself from becoming their next victim.
