Another INCREDIBLE DAY in G-PISD as Superintendent Dr. Cavazos and Dr. Kelly Miller, President of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, officially signed the agreement that solidifies offering expanded dual-credit college courses through the Islander Academy @ G-P High School! Our Education Service Center-Region 2 hosted the first-ever PR Symposium for school public relations professionals! Team G-P leaders were on hand to help provide training sessions and serve on the planning team. Our own Sharon Reckaway, Director of Family and Community Engagement, led a session on Community Engagement together with Hidalgo ISD. Crystal Matern, Chief Communications and Engagement Officer, was the moderator and a panelist for the Crisis Communications session together with CCISD and Sharyland ISD. We were grateful to have Texas Senator Morgan La Mantia provide the coin toss for our first home game of the season on Friday, September 6, 2024! The senator represents District 27 and its nearly one million Texans residing in eight counties: Bee, Cameron, Hidalgo, Kenedy, Kleberg, Willacy, Nueces, and our own San Patricio County.  Given the expanse of her leadership as an elected official and all of the school districts contained within those communities, we are extremely proud that she chose to be present for our students and community. Our School Board and Superintendent are committed to continuing to build relationships with our elected officials who represent the G-P community, all in an effort to make sure YOU – our students, staff, families, and taxpayers – have a voice on the topic of public education at the highest levels of state and local government. As per standard procedure during the first few weeks of a new school year, our Transportation team has been closely monitoring ridership and miles of service for our bus routes to transport Wildcats safely to and from school and home.
