It seems that lack of trust between enterprises and authorities is affecting the energy transition. Provincie Drenthe has recognized this and the effects on the development of fitting economic and energy policies. Taking up the gauntlet, Drenthe and its 12 municipalities have developed a support programme with a pool of experts - IBDO Ik Ben Drents Ondernemer – to provide advice for small and medium businesses in the region. Speaking the same language is a real bonus when offering support to the large group of SMEs on #innovation, #digitalization and #energytransition. A key element of the IBDO's approach when it comes to energy advice is that of the collective interest: organizing a #SharedDemand for #RenewableEnergy, #energyefficiency technology and investments. In this regard, #industrialsites are a logical starting point. #IBDO advisors also provide enterprises with individual solutions, tailored to specific needs and business potential -a positive business case is crucial. Although many enterprises expect their business case to be negative without transition subsidies, the opposite is true! Sounds interesting right? During our last joint online working session of 2024, the GRITH - Interreg NSR partners and invited experts revisited the subject of #EnergyCommunities, a challenging aspect of the #energytransition on #industrialsites and #businessparks. Aurélie Dubois from IDETA - Agence de Développement Territorial shared her experience with initiating a number of energy community projects in Wallonia, as #energycooperations are now legally authorized. They are specifically designed to benefit its participants or local territories environmentally, economically or socially rather than for financial profit. Irin Bouwman of the Provincie Drenthe presented the Dutch approach in the northern Netherlands, historically a pioneering region in terms of energy. The current #gridcongestion here is a huge challenge but also a great opportunity to discover solutions for the development of #energyhubs and create the energy system of the future. Kennard C. Brandenburgh from Distro Energy showed their collaborative digital Energy Management Platform that empowers users to share locally generated renewable energy to reduce grid congestion and costs. The workshop and knowledge exchange was very fruitful and promises a lot for the #GRITH consortium’s continued collaboration in the new year. “So this is Christmas, and what have we done?” Lennon’s Christmas classic captures the essence of this transitional period. In the past year, the partners have strengthened their collaborative bond through many exchanges. During a wide range of themed workshops online, guest speakers and stakeholders joined in, helping to expand the knowledge pool. But the real magic happens during live meetings, like when we visited Mechelen (BEL) and Dunkirk (Fr). Work sessions and site visits provided more insights into the challenges and opportunities in each region. So this is Christmas…and GRITH is entering stand-by mode for a few weeks. Wishing all our partners, stakeholders and followers “A very merry Christmas, and a happy New Year!

History, economy, and the strategic sea-side location formed the regional backdrop for the GRITH - Interreg NSR partner meeting in Dunkirk (FR.) on 13-14 November. Pôlénergie ‘s excellent organisation and an inspiring programme did the rest. It was powerful, energizing mix, firing two days of valuable exchange on the #energytransition on industrial sites. Grégory Desmidt, (Pôlénergie) introduced the background story and #decarbonisation strategy in #Dunkirk. - a major industrial hub. Many thanks to Yokogawa Industry Solutions (Joris Mertens, Khalid CHABAB) for sharing deeper insights and expertise and Héloïse B., from Région Hauts-de-France who explained the #rev3 stategy which supports the transformation around 3 innovative and interrelated transitions. Our visit the @Gravelines nuclear power plant was also a rare opportunity to get a closer look at #nuclear technology. This impressive EDF site - the biggest in France and the second largest in Europe - covers 9% of the country’s electricity consumption. Looking ahead, the consortium is now planning a series of themed webinars and developing new synergies with similar projects. We'll keep you posted. 🤗

GRITH - Interreg NSR reposted this

It’s been quite a day in Dunkerque for the GRITH - Interreg NSR consortium! During the first day of our partner meeting we had the exceptional opportunity to visit the nuclear power plant at Ville de Gravelines (officiel) and see first hand how it works. This is the largest in France, and second in Europe. #suitablyimpressed rev3 EDF Alison Marquilly Mathias POVSE Jean Gravellier Eirik STEEN Grégory Desmidt Pôlénergie

In September, Provincie Drenthe joined an extensive network of #stakeholders to brainstorm over the next steps towards #sustainableBusinessParks in the region. With the title 'GoudenGreep’, this was designed to discover and discuss #goldenopportunities for the energy transition at these sites. Guided by moderator Rixt van Dongera, our GRITH - Interreg NSR partners discussed how to develop a support process with entrepreneurs, financiers, park managers, grid operators, business associations, and energy experts. Security of supply and accessibility are high on the wish list but it's complex. #Sustainability and #futureproof energy solutions require a lot of resources and major investments. One notable conclusion: sustainability is not just good for the environment but also worth gold in terms of Drenthe’s economic and industrial climate!
