Grocery Outlet’s mission of Touching Lives for the Better is at the core of everything we do. That’s why we’re proud to share our second-annual #impact report, highlighting the ways we increased food accessibility, provided customers huge cost savings at the register, and improved operational efficiencies in 2023. From reducing food waste and saving shoppers money – through our opportunistic buying model, we saved customers an average of 40% over conventional #grocery stores, to discontinuing printed advertisement circulars, and using #energy management systems in all of our stores, we’re excited to share the steps we’ve taken to make a positive impact on our customers, our communities and our planet! It really was a *smashing* good time!
Last week, we hosted a BBQ at Grocery Outlet HQ to raise money for our Independence from Hunger campaign. At the event, some of our brave executives and leaders (Alejandro Alvarez Correa, Lindsay Gray, Luke Thompson, Dorian Bertsch, Jon Decker & Luke Estep) took pies to the face, while Alejandro G. donated his hair to the highest bidder, all in the name of IFH! 🥧 Special shoutout to my amazing Communications & Events Team (Kayla Rivera, Sam Wilson & Lexi Fraser) and everyone who volunteered at the event (way too many to tag!) for all of the hard work and collaboration that made this event a FUNdraising success! I'm so grateful to work for a company where we like to have fun and we don't take ourselves too seriously. I've never put a pie in an executive's face before - an honor that's truly unique to GO 😂

Thanks Bernard Boudreaux for sharing your time and for spreading the word about Independence from Hunger! We're lucky to volunteer alongside folks (and customers!) like you.
So, I’m doing my regular volunteer shift at Alameda County Community Food Bank this week and I see a bunch of #volunteers from Grocery Outlet. Many of the volunteers had tee shirts that said “Give $5, Get $5.” I was curious, so I asked Janelle H. and she schooled me. July is “Independence from Hunger” month at Grocery Outlet, and when a customer donates $5, they get a coupon for $5 off a purchase (that’s the short version of the program as I understood it). The goal is to raise $4.5M to support local food agency partners. Wow! This program is in addition to Grocery Outlet being a great food recovery partner to local food agency partners. Not only is ACCFB a major recipient of this program, so are my colleagues at Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Oregon Food Bank, and Central Pennsylvania Food Bank! Chatting with Janelle reminded me that I needed to stop by my local Grocery Outlet and replenish my wine supply (I go on “senior day” so I can get an additional 10% off their already low prices)…I’m over 55 years old so I qualify for “senior day”. I LOVE the wine selection (and incredible prices) at Grocery Outlet…and I love the fact that the employees volunteer in our community. I’m looking forward to chatting up more Grocery Outlet volunteers when I’m back in the warehouse volunteering, and also have them join our annual “Savor the Season” fundraiser luncheon this October (that’s a hint Alejandro Alvarez Correa, Ana Cheng, Ashley Hoedt, Richele Middlebrooks). THANK YOU GROCERY OUTLET! #volunteerism, #corporateresponsibility, #endhunger, #foodinsecurity, #foodbank, #foodrecovery, #foodinsecurity, #foodequity
