Not only thrilled, we are grateful to have been awarded Land Use Innovation Initiative funds to create opportunities for community members to play a leading role in land revitalization and community change. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more details on how you can work with us to turn brownfield liabilities into vibrant community assets.
We’re thrilled to share that five Groundwork Trusts have been awarded a total of $400,000 through the Land Use Innovation Initiative! 🎉 This funding will support local communities in transforming brownfield sites into vibrant green spaces, creating new parks, gardens, and green infrastructure in neighborhoods that need them most. These efforts will provide lasting benefits for communities, with residents playing a key role in shaping their future. These projects represent real, tangible change—and we couldn’t be more thrilled to highlight the amazing work that’s underway. 🔵 Groundwork New Orleans’ Green Team will inventory brownfield sites, assess conditions like heat and flooding, and conduct community interviews to identify opportunities for green infrastructure and new green spaces. 🔵 Groundwork San Diego - Chollas Creek will work with local community members, organizations, and business leaders to develop a plan for transforming a 17-acre brownfield into a green space and flood mitigation park. 🔵 Groundwork Ohio River Valley will involve their Roselawn Climate Action Group in creating a community-wide brownfield reuse plan. 🔵 Groundwork Denver will engage the Sheridan community to gather input for a brownfield site redesign plan that prioritizes local needs. 🔵 Groundwork Atlanta will collaborate with west side residents to gather and share information on brownfield revitalization, ensuring redevelopment benefits the community.
