Exciting News for Local Food Access! 📢The USDA announced an incredible $1.7 billion in funding to support local food purchases, including: 🍏 $500 million for the Local Food Purchase Assistance Program. 🥦 $500 million for Local Food in Schools. 👶 $200 million for a new initiative for local food in childcare facilities. 🥫 $500 million for the Emergency Food Assistance Program. Growing Home contributed to these efforts by advocating for funding for the Local Food Purchase Assistance program as well as for Local Food in Schools through the statewide Healthy School Meals for All campaign. These programs will significantly impact our communities and food systems, advancing more equitable access to healthy, locally sourced food.
