Discussion centered on key workforce initiatives to enhance talent acquisition, provide entry-level and advanced manufacturing training, and to improve employee retention. These efforts are critical to strengthening the Maritime Industrial Base on Long Island and the surrounding region. Event underscored how Long Island is well-positioned to continue to play a crucial role within the nation’s submarine, maritime and broader defense industrial base.

This week, Ms. Stefanie Link - Executive Director, In-Service Submarines, PEO SSN and her Long Island Flag deputy sponsor Spencer Pruitt visited Long Island along with partners from General Dynamics Electric Boat, TMG, Inc and the US Navy Maritime Industrial Base (MIB) team. Ms. Link toured several suppliers on Long Island including Sensaras, Curtiss-Wright Corporation, and GSE DYNAMICS, INC. She also held workforce demand signal discussions with Nassau BOCES, Suffolk County Community College, West Islip Unified School District, Long Island Council Navy League of the U.S., and Ignite Long Island. Long Island is a Maritime Center of Gravity for the United States Navy, this visit further cements the Navy’s mission in the region - come join the Build Submarines fight!
