Supply Chain Resiliency with DOD’s Office of Small Business Anne Shybunko Moore, Owner & CEO of GSE Dynamics moderated a fireside chat today with Farooq A. Mitha, Director of DOD’s Office of Small Business Programs at the Aerospace Industry Association’s Supply Chain Summit hosted by The Boeing Company. Discussion centered on DOD’s efforts underway to energize the nation’s small business community and encourage increased engagement with prime companies of all sizes in the support of the nation’s defense. Initiatives such as APEX Accelerators, Mentor-Protégé and Project Spectrum are helping to stem the tide of the diminishing number of small business suppliers. Ms. Shybunko also raised the importance of workforce training and development which led to a conversation about investments the Navy/DOD are taking to build greater industrial capacity plus attract and retain talent. Finally, Mitha described an integration initiative to tie together efforts happening outside his office across the services, the defense agencies, Office of the Secretary of Defense, the industrial base and small business stakeholders for enhanced collaboration. Thank you to AIA for orchestrating this successful event and The Boeing Company in Arlington, Virginia for hosting!
