About us
The Guthrie Theater was founded by Sir Tyrone Guthrie in 1963 and is dedicated to producing the great works of dramatic literature, developing the work of contemporary playwrights and cultivating the next generation of theater artists. Under the artistic leadership of Joseph Haj, the Guthrie produces a mix of classic and contemporary plays on three stages, and continues to set a national standard for excellence in theatrical production and performance.

This summer, we welcomed 225 campers to the Guthrie, with 30% receiving scholarships to attend. Over the past several weeks, students have engaged in play creation, technical theater production, Foley sound training, musical theater workshops and more.
