About us

H2IOSC is a pioneering project to create a collaborative cluster of European distributed research infrastructures involved in the humanities and cultural heritage sectors with operating nodes across Italy. Through the enhancement and federation of CLARIN-IT, DARIAH-IT, E-RIHS.it and OPERAS-IT, the four Italian nodes of the European Research Infrastructures committed in the Social and Cultural Innovation domain, H2IOSC will provide researchers, businesses, and citizens with an open and multidisciplinary environment that enables access to advanced tools for conducting innovative and computationally intensive research on complex digital data and objects.

    🚀 First H2IOSC TNA/NA Call: discover the list of services!  The H2IOSC RIs Cluster is offering free Trans-National Access (TNA) and National Access (NA) to its advanced digital services, implemented in the H2IOSC project, supporting innovative research on complex digital data and objects in the humanities, language science, and heritage science domains.    What about the list of services?  For this first call, the services available are provided by CLARIN-IT, DARIA-IT, and E-RIHS .it.  E-RIHS .it, the leading research infrastructure of the H2IOSC RIs Cluster, is offering access to ATON.  🔹 ATON is an open-source framework to present and interact with 3D models and scenes on the web, targeting Heritage Science communities. The CNR ISPC, with its operating units in Naples and Rome, will provide this service.   CLARIN-IT is offering access to EpiLexO Editor and eScriptorium.   🔹EpiLexO is a web-based platform designed to create, edit, and link lexical resources for ancient languages.  🔹eScriptorium is a web platform that integrates Handwritten Text Recognition and cooperative proofreading of automated transcriptions.   The CNR ILC, with its operating unit in Pisa, will provide these services.  DARIAH-IT is offering access to RAISE and TIGRO.   🔹RAISE is a set of tools and services designed to make GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) resources more findable, accessible, and reusable (FAIR).  🔹TIGRO is a software for the lexicographic and linguistic analysis of textual corpora.     E-RIHS, one of the four European Research Infrastructures federated in H2IOSC, today celebrates 20 Years of Access to Cutting-Edge Facilities in Heritage Science. Today, 24 September 2024, the European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science Implementation Phase project (E-RIHS IP) will hold a public event at the Manifattura Tabacchi in Florence to celebrate its upcoming successful conclusion and 20 years of E-RIHS activity.     H2IOSC Café - Presenting CLARIN ERIC Date: September 25, 2024  Time: 14:00 – 16:00 (CEST)  Venue: Online, Microsoft Teams  The H2IOSC project is promoting a series of training events: H2IOSC Café. These sessions are designed to provide cross-training, collaboration and knowledge sharing between all research infrastructures involved in the project: CLARIN, DARIAH, E-RIHS and OPERAS.    The first event will focus on CLARIN ERIC, where CLARIN will present its activities to the other infrastructures involved in the project.     Take part in the H2IOSC survey and fill in the online questionnaire In the context of the "Landscaping and building communities" activities of the NRRP H2IOSC project, we are pleased to announce the H2IOSC survey. The questionnaire is designed to shade a light on the use and needs of the Italian scientific community in terms of data, tools, digital services and to identify expectations towards research infrastructures operating in the fields of linguistics, humanities and cultural heritage, also in relation to (high) education. The questionnaire is directed to all experts working in the humanities, social sciences and cultural heritage disciplines who wish to contribute by providing information on the use and/or creation of data resources, technologies, software and services in different research areas, knowledge of research infrastructures, training needs, and publication habits. The questionnaire, in Italian, should take a maximum of 10 minutes to complete.     What we do: Landscaping and building communities     As a cluster of Research Infrastructures, our mission is to explore and understand the landscape of language technologies, humanities, and heritage science. Through comprehensive surveys, we gather invaluable insights into the existing projects, resources, tools, communities, best practices, and standards that are shaping these domains.     Our team of experts conducts detailed and extensive investigations, diving deep into the panorama of the Social Science and Humanities field. This meticulous research allows us to identify the key players, the emerging trends, and the untapped opportunities within these interdisciplinary communities.     By building strong connections and fostering collaboration, we aim to onboard the most valuable resources and best practices into the national marketplace. Our mission is to strengthen the national nodes of the four Research Infrastructures involved, ensuring that the wealth of knowledge and innovation is readily accessible to all.     As part of the H2IOSC project under the NRRP, we are dedicated to empowering individuals and organizations to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of language technologies, humanities, and heritage science.
