HACER MN was thrilled to partner with Anoka County to host the first Día de los Muertos celebration at Columbia Heights High School! The event featured a stunning altar by Monica Vega and artwork by renowned Artist Luis Fitch, along with a lively dance performance by Los Alegres Bailadores. Adding even more vibrance, we had nine incredible Catrinas who filled the space with color and brought this beautiful tradition to life, immersing everyone in the richness of the culture. We’re also honored to have received an official Día de los Muertos proclamation from Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, presented to Hacer’s Executive Director, Rodolfo Gutierrez by Regina Vidales. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this special day of remembrance, color, and culture!

🌟 National Network of Public Health Institutes built a powerful coalition of partners, including HACER MN, to create the Community Guide to Advance Health Equity. This guide highlights five core principles and one foundational approach for sustainable outreach to communities often left out of our national public health narrative. 📄 The downloadable Guide and interactive website offer customizable templates, resources, and guidance — created BY community-based organizations, FOR community-based organizations — prioritizing health equity, trust, and relationship building in the real-world contexts where we strive to improve public health nationwide. 🔗 Explore the Guide at https://lnkd.in/eqKDxmkU We also invite you to watch this video, part of the Advancing Health Equity series, in which our Executive Director, Rodolfo Gutierrez, shares insights into the Latino community’s experiences with engaging trusted messengers. 🎥 https://lnkd.in/egqG9Crx

HACER participated as a presenter with its project, "HACER por la Salud: Education and Prevention of Breast Cancer among Latinas in Southern Minnesota." During the presentation, Southern Minnesota Regional Manager Deisy Cañón and Research Associate Jazmin Briest shared the key learnings, findings, and reflections from the project, which was implemented in the cities of Madelia, St. James, and Mankato. The initiative focused on educating self-identified Latina and Hispanic women about the importance of understanding breast cancer, recognizing its symptoms and signs, and advocating for their own health and well-being.
