Delivering happiness to hospitalized, homeless and all children facing crises in need of a boost of HOPE!

About us

The Message of Hope Foundation was founded in 2011 by Emi Burke, born out of a desire to bring hope and happiness to hospitalized children with special needs or chronic and life-threatening illnesses. A parent of a profoundly disabled young son often requiring intensive services, Mrs. Burke was moved to action after witnessing other young hospitalized children undergoing treatment with nothing to engage them or distract from long hospital stays. A physician described the extent to which families invest their resources in expensive treatments as they strive to save the lives of their children, leaving little for small luxuries such as coloring books, crayons or other engaging and uplifting activities. Five years later, the Message of Hope Foundation has inspired hope and resiliency in thousands of children, achieved through the generous support of numerous national corporate sponsors and dedicated community volunteers. The foundation’s signature Happy Hope Bags are a boost of hope for children who are hospitalized, regardless of their illness or disability, providing hours of activities that help to take a child's mind off of their treatment or illness. It was wonderful to come together with Cencora Global Public Affairs colleagues from around the world for two days of learning, collaboration and connection. I’m thrilled that as part of our very busy meeting agenda we were able volunteer together by making Activity Kits with Happy Hope Factory that will be distributed to patients at CHOP.

Computer Science at University of Warwick | 2026 Grad | FactSet MESH 2024 Extern | IATL Student Co-Creator | WP student rep | Consultancy | Data Analysis |

I am honoured to have spent the last two weeks as a Client Solutions MESH Extern with FactSet at their London office. As one of 11 participants from a pool of over 600, I was absolutely thrilled to work with both FactSet and upReach to develop my personal skills and career development during this opportunity. A short look into my time there... 💡 Attended talks on Finance, the stock market, investment, GenAI and much more 💡 Networked with FactSet professionals from a range of business areas and seniority 💡 Learned about and used FactSet's workstation platform to dig deep into the reality of financial services through workshops and senior speaker talks 💡 Presented on client types and FactSet products to a group of externs and professionals 💡 Shadowed a FactSet consultant to understand their workflow further 💡 Collaborated with Hannah Zucker and Happy Hope Factory on CSR work to create gifts for Chapter One UK students 💡 Experienced the friendly and welcoming culture within a corporate fintech environment ...and many more highlights! As a Computer Science student, I went into the experience somewhat nervous as I sought to explore the world of fintech with little finance background. However, between the incredible team at FactSet and my hard work and determination, I feel more confident than ever that this is a career space that I would love to explore. I was challenged every day to expand my horizons and have gained so much knowledge in such a short time. From commercial awareness to business etiquette, I feel confident that I belong in the fintech industry, and the programme has helped immensely with my impostor syndrome and nervousness speaking to senior staff. A special thanks to Louise Kristensen for her mentorship and dedication - something I will remember for a lifetime. Also to Jack Tozer, Ashni Patel and my mentor Michael Adakole for their hard work and encouragement on the programme. And finally to my fellow externs, who I bonded and worked with and was amazed to see them flourish too! #factsetter #fintech #consulting #extern

At NBCUniversal, we believe in the power of giving back. Through NBCUnites, we create opportunities for positive change in our local communities. In July, our employees made a significant impact through various volunteer efforts: 💜 Over 150 early career talents from nearly 20 nonprofits connected with NBCUniversal Creatives, learning from executives and gaining valuable career insight. 💜 Our NBCUnites Ambassadors led 100+ employees in volunteer activities, including kit packing with Happy Hope Factory, decorating foster bags for Foster Love and revitalizing a garden with Covenant House International. 💜 50 students from Junior Achievement of Northern California participated in a three-week virtual program led by 18 CNBC mentors. The program concluded with students’ pitching their ideas to a panel of judges, demonstrating their understanding of financial literacy and career planning. 💜 We hosted 12 young women from Step Up and Girls Write Now for a two-day career inspiration camp. They explored various career paths, engaged in discussions on the role of women in media and created vision boards to visualize their future goals. 💜250 employees at our Universal Studios Lot stuffed 6,000 backpacks with essential supplies for underserved children in LA, in collaboration with NBC4 and Telemundo 52's ‘Supporting Our Schools’ or ‘Apoyando a Nuestras Escuelas’ campaign.
