We're proud to announce our Fall 2024 NextGen cohort! Our NextGen program is a hands-on engineering program for students in Alabama. This cohort is working on three medtech protoypes: NephSol A 4-person NextGen intern team will work with the 2024 Alabama Launchpad Cycle 2 Concept Stage winner NephSol Inc to further develop their product concept. Accessirise Originally provided by Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, this project is a continuation of prototype development started by the Summer 2024 NextGen cohort. The 3-person team (which includes 2 members of the original Accessirise team) will continue development on the portable wheelchair ramp prototype to further address customers’ wants and needs of the product. Endoswipe This project started as a class project for two UAB students, both of whom are part of the Fall 2024 NextGen cohort. The 3-person NextGen project team (including the two who originated the project) will continue development of the concept prototype that is intended to aid medical providers in making endoscopy procedures more efficient and safer for patients. The Fall 2024 NextGen cohort is comprised of the following students: Anurag Bhattarai – Biomedical Engineering (BME) Nathan Branch – Entrepreneurship Julia Fromm – BME Nicholas Garrett – Electrical Engineering Brianna Green – BME Annabel Johnson – BME Tahli King – Mechanical Engineering (She changed majors this semester) Jadarius Lewis – BME Bhumi Patel – BME Ann Varghese - BME
