About us
Our primary goal is to produce highly-qualified U.S. and international student graduates. Our undergraduate program provides our students with the best possible preparation to enter the oil and gas industry. We maintain an ABET-accredited program, provide a curriculum that includes a solid foundation in petroleum engineering fundamentals, and insist our students gain internship experience before they graduate. As a result, our graduates enter the industry ready to be productive contributors who also understand the need to continue learning and improving their skills throughout their careers. Our graduate degree programs offer coursework at both the Masters and Ph.D. levels. We also offer certificate programs that continue education beyond or instead of a graduate degree.

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Wencheng Jin to the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering as an Assistant Professor! Dr. Jin joins us from Idaho National Laboratory, where he was a computational scientist in the Geothermal Energy and Subsurface Systems Group. His research focuses on computational geomechanics, multiphysics coupling in porous media, and the application of artificial intelligence to geosystems. Dr. Jin develops computational tools and innovative technologies to enhance subsurface resource recovery, evaluate the performance of subsurface storage, and design granular material handling equipment. His expertise includes integrating physical experiments, physics-based simulations, and physics-guided neural network modeling to address key scientific challenges in advancing the energy transition. We believe Dr. Jin’s work in the sustainable energy sector will significantly enhance the department's research and educational objectives. Please join us in warmly welcoming Dr. Wencheng Jin to Texas A&M University. 👍

Gig’em Dr. Michael King! We’re so proud to have you representing #TAMUpete! 👍
#ECMOR2024 has come to an end! What an incredible four days it has been—reconnecting with familiar faces, making new connections, and diving into the latest in numerical modelling of underground geologic systems! Huge thanks to Michael J. King for his fantastic keynote on fresh approaches to understanding subsurface pressure transients, and to everyone who brought their research, insights, and energy to the event. ✨ A big shoutout to our sponsors—TotalEnergies, SLB, and Equinor—for making it all possible. And finally, a heartfelt thanks to our dedicated scientific committee: Ahmed H. Elsheikh, Alberto Cominelli, Arne Skorstad, Arthur Moncorgé, Dominique Guérillot, Edel Reiso, Hadi Hajibeygi, Isabelle Faille, Knut-Andreas Lie, Michael-Peter Suess, Pallav Sarma, Ralf Schulze-Riegert, Roland Masson, Stephan K.
