Harrison Street’s Managing Director and Head of Transactions – Europe, Josh Miller, recently took part in a video interview with EXPO REAL (Messe München) and PropertyEU. In the interview, Josh discussed Harrison Street’s approach to overcoming rising construction costs and high barrier to entry markets for new development projects. Josh spoke about how Harrison Street will continue to navigate the current environment and growth plans within historically undersupplied markets in the UK and Europe through investments in purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), build-to-rent, and senior housing sectors. “There really is an interesting opportunity if you’re able to deliver assets into these undersupplied markets. Michael Hochanadel, Managing Director and Head of Digital at Harrison Street, was recently featured in PERE, where he discussed the new era of data center investments and how to navigate challenges resulting from power constraints within the sector. Mike noted that cost sharing with the utility provider is an important aspect of the investment. “Having somebody credible that’s willing to post significant capital and financial resources to secure those commitments is increasingly important to the utility to offset the investment that they need to make on the back end to bring power to a site.” As a leader in the digital assets sector, Harrison Street has committed $5.4 billion since 2018 to powered shells, carrier hotels, collocation facilities and dark fiber, and has built a dedicated team committed to investing across verticals that are key parts of the digital ecosystem.
