Working together for a clean energy future for Hawaii #cleanenergyHawaii
About us
Inspired by an enlightened king more than a century ago, Hawaii was an early adopter of electricity to light homes and power industry. The ingenuity in creating and delivering power on these isolated islands is a unique story of innovation, connectivity and progressive thinking that continues today. For more than 125 years, Hawaiian Electric Company has provided the energy that has helped drive the islands' development from a kingdom to a modern state. Hawaiian Electric Company and its subsidiaries, Maui Electric Company and Hawaii Electric Light Company, serve 95 percent of the state's 1.4 million residents on the islands of Oahu, Maui, Hawaii Island, Lanai and Molokai.

Hurricane season is not over yet! Pack an emergency go-bag with us! Here is a quick look at some of the necessities you should include in your emergency go-bag! Everyone in your household should have an emergency go-bag packed and ready to go in the event of an emergency that requires you to evacuate. The go-bag should be sturdy and easy to carry and should include items you would want to have with you if you must leave in a hurry! To learn more, check out our free online emergency preparedness handbook at https://lnkd.in/gam_DVa.

Great news for the Windward community! We have reopened our electric vehicle (EV) fast charger at Koolau Center to the public in a new location on the site, just slightly west of its original location. As with other recent replacement projects, we have upgraded this site with a new Tritium model 50kW charger which features a rugged design and modular power architecture to provide greater reliability. We are excited to restore EV charging access to an area lacking in charging options! To see a list of planned charging station upgrades visit https://lnkd.in/gNunveAM.

On Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, our employees volunteered at our Maui County Adopt-a-Highway event to help keep our adopted portion of Puunene Avenue in Kahului clean and litter free! The Adopt-a-Highway program is a public service program that allows participants from any organization to pick up litter along Hawaii’s state highway. This program not only keeps our roads clean but also helps prevent pollutants from entering our storm drains, streams, and the ocean! Mahalo to all the volunteers!
