Construction is a tough business, but you're never too tough to talk about mental health. (WARNING: Sensitive Topic) As Suicide Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to take a moment to STANDUP for suicide prevention and advocate for more inclusive access to mental health services and wellness within the construction industry. For years construction has topped the charts for incidents of male deaths by suicide, with thousands of families, communities, and jobsites affected each year. Haydon prioritizes the wellbeing of our employees by promoting access to an Employee Assistance Program which provides for 24/7 holistic wellness options such as mental health counseling, financial coaching, and legal resources. Our Safety Team also provides education on mental health and suicide with information on the warning signs of suicide, tips on how to talk with someone at risk of suicide, and how to talk about mental health and suicide in general. If you or a loved one has been affected by thoughts of suicide, help is available 24/7 at the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or the Crisis Text Line (text “Hello” to 741741). The Maricopa County crisis line is also available at 602-222-9444.
