At HCA Florida Citrus Hospital, we don’t just show up for our community, we show up for each other too. In the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, our teams across the state came together to support one another, ensuring that all our colleagues received the care they needed. From providing cleaning supplies, food and financial assistance to offering laundry services and showers, we prioritized the well-being of our staff. Most recently, we organized a fuel truck to top off everyone’s gas tanks at HCA Florida Citrus Hospital. During times of crisis, it’s crucial to stand together and show up for each other. #WeShowUp

HCA Florida Citrus Hospital employee Kim Jannke, a patient care tech and nurse extern on the neurotelemetry unit, faced a daunting challenge when Hurricane Helene struck Crystal River, Florida. Despite living in an area that had never experienced flooding in the eight years she had lived there, the unprecedented storm surge reached well beyond US Highway 19, inundating her neighborhood and leaving residents stranded in flooded homes without power for days. When Kim was finally able to leave her home, she found unwavering support at HCA Florida Citrus Hospital. A mini market set up on-site offered food and cleaning supplies to help her recover from the devastation. Additionally, a mobile laundry trailer and warm showers were made available for employees impacted by the storm. She was also met with encouragement to apply for assistance through the HCA Healthcare Hope Fund. Amidst the stress of losing her furniture and food and dealing with the pressures of nursing school, Kim feels a profound sense of gratitude for her HCA Healthcare family. Their swift response and support during such a challenging time exemplifies the commitment to community and compassion that defines HCA Healthcare's mission. HCA Healthcare colleagues impacted by the storm can visit the Hope Fund's website to learn more and submit an application to request assistance: https://bit.ly/3ZUNvLX #WeShowUp #CareLikeFamily

We want to extend our gratitude to our incredible team for their response during Hurricane Helene. These dedicated colleagues activated in advance of the storm to ensure every detail was managed to keep our patients safe. They worked tirelessly to secure the hospital, set up an incident command center, report to the Sheriff’s EOC and move in to the hospital to care for patients; this was a big effort that did not go unnoticed. In fact, while many of our team members were at the hospital caring for our community, they were pushing aside their own worries about their homes and families. At HCA Florida Citrus Hospital, we believe in standing together, especially in challenging times. That’s why we set up a mini-mart stocked with food, cleaning supplies and hygiene products for colleagues and their families who faced the devastating impacts of the storm – whether it was a lost home, flood damage, or power outage. We also deployed essential services such as a mobile laundry truck and warm showers. This is a small token of appreciation, but one we hope will provide some comfort. Together, we’re stronger, and we will always show up for one another. #WeShowUp #CareLikeFamily
