  • Last night, Hurricane Milton struck Florida’s west coast as a category 3 hurricane, bringing powerful winds and rain as it moved across the state early this morning. Ahead of #Milton, the leadership team of HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital came together to prepare and stayed to ride out the storm and monitor conditions overnight to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all our patients and our colleagues. The commitment of our care teams throughout the effects of Hurricane Milton enabled us to remain open for our community and continue to provide excellent, uninterrupted care, at a time when our local community and our HCA Florida family needed us the most. Showing Up is what we do. Our HCA Florida sister facilities across the state are in our hearts as we navigate this time post-storm. #HCAFloridaHealthcare

  • Hispanic Heritage Month Q&A with HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital Assistant Administrator, and Hispanic Colleague Network Chair, Carlos Vega! Carlos began his journey in nursing, providing hands-on care, and worked his way up into nursing leadership. His passion for driving systematic changes to enhance quality of care inspired him to pursue further education and training in healthcare administration. Where are your roots? “I was born in Peru and spent my childhood there.” What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you? "Hispanic Heritage Month holds significant meaning for me on both a personal and professional level. It serves as a vital reminder of the rich cultural contributions, history, and resilience of Hispanic communities. In the healthcare setting, it emphasizes the importance of cultural competence and diversity in delivering equitable care. Recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month allows us to reflect on the unique health challenges faced by these communities, including disparities in access to care, language barriers, and varying cultural beliefs about health and wellness. It encourages us to create initiatives that honor our Hispanic staff and patients and actively work to address these disparities. This month is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of our Hispanic employees, whose diverse perspectives enhance our team's ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care. It reinforces the importance of fostering an inclusive environment where all voices are heard and valued, ultimately improving patient outcomes and community trust. Moreover, Hispanic Heritage Month prompts us to engage with the community through outreach programs, educational workshops, and partnerships with local organizations. These efforts help bridge gaps in understanding, promote health literacy, and ensure that we are meeting the unique needs of our Hispanic patients." #HCAFloirdaHealthcare #HispanicHeritageMonth

  • Meet Jose "Vladimir" Muros, RN Case Manager at HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital! "I was born in Caracas, Venezuela. I was raised by my Venezuelan grandmother. My mother is Colombian, and my father was Venezuelan. Growing up in a vibrant and culturally rich environment, I was deeply influenced by my Latin heritage. My journey took a significant turn in 2006 when I moved to the United States, a country that I now proudly call my home. Arriving in the United States without knowing the English language was a daunting challenge. However, I was driven by a dream to become a professional in this new land. The initial years were tough, but my determination and resilience kept me going. As a Latin immigrant, I feel incredibly blessed to be part of this nation. The journey has not been easy, but it has been immensely rewarding. I have worked hard and dedicated myself to my studies, always keeping my goals in sight. The challenges I faced as an immigrant only strengthened my resolve. Throughout these years, I have learned that persistence and discipline are crucial to achieving success. It is not just about dreaming big but also about working tirelessly to turn those dreams into reality. My journey has taught me that no goal is impossible if you believe in yourself and stay committed. I am proud that I recently completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, (BSN). My story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the belief that anything is possible. I continue to work hard every day, inspired by the opportunities this country offers and driven by the desire to make a meaningful impact. If I did it, you can do it. No matter what your goal is, achieve it, and DO IT!" As a part of HCA Healthcare, we are proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, a monthlong celebration from September 15 - October 15 honoring the historical legacy and contributions of the Hispanic community. #HispanicHeritageMonth #HCAFloridaHealthcare
