Last month, our own CJW Medical Center were honored and excited to partner with the Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of VA for our first ever Healthcare Discovery Day. More than 150 high school senior Girl Scouts, ambassadors and their leaders spent the morning learning about careers in healthcare including flight medics, cardiology, neurology and nursing. We are thankful for the Girl Scouts and all of our HCA Virginia Health System colleagues who made this event a major success! #HealthierTomorrows #NursingCareers

HCA Virginia Health System colleagues showed up for the 2024 Richmond Heart Walk last Saturday and helped raise over $72,000 for the American Heart Association. We are grateful to each participant and everyone who donated. HCA Virginia earned Top Company and placed first and second in the Top Teams category: CJW Golf Tournament raised a record-breaking $33,505, and Becky's Zoo raised over $22,183. Special thanks to our colleagues recognized as top coaches: Debra Anderson and Karen Bolton from CJW Medical Center and Becky Oatts from Henrico, Parham & Retreat Doctors' Hospitals. “It was exciting to see our HCA Virginia teams come together in such a big way to support the mission of the American Heart Association through this year’s Heart Walk,” said Devin Tobin, chief operating officer at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital. “This event is more than just a walk. It’s a powerful movement to fight heart disease and stroke. By coming together, we made a significant difference in advancing research, education, and community programs that save lives and improve heart health for all.” #WeShowUp #HealthierTomorrows #RichmondHeartWalk

It's National Mammography Day! 💕 Our HCA Virginia colleagues are wearing pink to raise breast cancer awareness and promote the importance of breast screenings. Mammograms are the best tool to help you find breast cancer early, even before you feel a lump or change in your breast tissue. Early detection typically helps to lessen the need for aggressive treatment and chances of survival are improved. At HCA Virginia, we strive to make every appointment as convenient and comfortable as possible, and that starts with scheduling a screening mammogram online: https://bit.ly/40a0B7R #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #WearItPink 📷: Our colleagues at Reston Hospital, HCA Virginia Health System Air Care Eagle and EMS, Richmond Breast Center and Sarah Cannon Research Institute.

Sometimes, caring for others runs in the family. Our Henrico, Parham & Retreat Doctors' Hospitals team is so appreciative of Clifford Smith, Jr.’s hard work. As a part of his Eagle Scout project, Clifford, son of general surgeon Clifford Smith, MD FACS, created a plan and built the benches you'll find around the hospital campus. This 16-year-old high school junior presented the hospital team with four potential projects. Ultimately, constructing and installing the four benches around the Henrico Doctors’ Hospital campus felt closest to Clifford’s heart. He shared, “I felt like building the benches would be the most rewarding and beneficial based on the needs of the hospital. I wrote up the project to present to my scout leaders. It included the build project, building supplies, cost, design and estimated amount of people to complete the project.” Clifford had a busy few months! In addition to his Eagle Scout project, he also represented his school program attending the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Boston, MA this summer. A leader of tomorrow caring for our colleagues, visitors and patients today — thank you, Clifford! #CareLikeFamily
