Breaking new ground in Hampton Roads! On Nov. 20, Sentara Leigh Hospital became the region’s first hospital to earn Magnet with Distinction from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, recognizing outstanding nursing excellence and collaboration. After 21 years of service as a U.S. Army combat medic and three deployments, Sergeant 1st Class Lucas White transitioned to a civilian career with the help of the Pentagon’s SkillBridge program and Sentara Health Plans. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is leading the way in innovation with its new BloodTrack blood storage systems, now piloting at the hospital. This advanced technology places blood products closer to the patient bedside, allowing clinicians to deliver life-saving transfusions more quickly, accurately, and safely. With SNGH conducting over 2,250 transfusions monthly, this program represents the future of patient care—and highlights the critical need for blood donations.
