On Friday, September 13th, we hosted our third annual Guest Up & Out Move. A group of friends of Heading Home, including partners, donors, and leaders in the community, worked together to help us move a family out of shelter and into their new home. Volunteers helped to stock the refrigerator, build furniture, decorate the apartment, and then had the opportunity to welcome the family home at the end of the day. We were thrilled to help Noelle and his two children after 5 years of homelessness! Thank you Brooke M. Thomson, Ciarán Smyth, PE, CEng, PMP, Patrick Lucey, Erin Murphy Rafferty, Josh Meyers, Ramona PERSAUD, Heather Boujoulian, Brittney Macomber, Philip Giffee, and Emmett Lyne!

I was honored to participate in my first Up and Out last Friday with Heading Home to support a single father and his two children, who after 5 years of homelessness, finally have a place of their own. This past year, Heading Home successfully moved 194 households out of homelessness and into permanent housing, with 97.7% of clients retaining permanent housing one year later. In total, Heading Home served over 8,000 clients across programs ranging from homelessness prevention, to shelter, to permanent housing. The magic and impact we experienced on Friday embodies exactly what Heading Home is all about and Associated Industries of Massachusetts is proud to support such an amazing organization. Thank you Calleigh Hynes-Leach, Joseph Gravellese, Danielle Ferrier, MBA, LICSW and the entire Heading Home team.

In Massachusetts, we take care of our neighbors. In August, Danielle Ferrier, MBA, LICSW sat down with WBZ | CBS Boston’s Nichole Davis to talk more about Heading Home and Massachusetts’ “Right to Shelter” law. Listen to the full podcast here: https://lnkd.in/dRRKVFK7

Did you know the average student needs $529 in school supplies per child yearly? A staggering number for families experiencing homelessness, so that’s why Heading Home collects/stuffs backpacks with school supplies to ensure school-aged kids in their programs go back to school with the tools they need to learn and thrive. Grateful for the NAIOP Massachusetts Developing Leader members who volunteered and dedicated time to filling backpacks at Tatte Bakery & Cafe South Boston! #NAIOPMA #CREvolunteer #volunteer #helpingchildren #helpingkids

As summer winds down, Erland is proud to partner with Heading Home once again to support students preparing for the school year through the Backpack Buddies program. This year, we collected over 30 backpacks packed with educational supplies for children from families experiencing homelessness. We’re honored to contribute to this meaningful initiative and help ensure these students have the resources they need to learn and thrive.

Yesterday, we celebrated KPMG US third annual Community Impact Day with over 700 #KPMGBoston volunteers supporting 25 organizations. Despite the rain, we started the day volunteering with the The Trustees of Reservations, where we installed a Little Free Library. I was proud to see our SOMOS and Living Green Business Resource Groups unite for a wonderful cause, bringing Spanish and English books to a community garden. Afterward, I listened to the bright young minds at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston Tech Tuesday as they presented their capstone presentations. Before we left, I was lucky to present KPMG U.S. Foundation's generous $150,000 community vitality grant to BGCB. This commitment, spread over the next three years, will significantly impact programs and initiatives. To cap off the day, we walked for the American Cancer Society, a cause close to many of our hearts. Highlights of our #KPMGBoston colleagues’ day included: - Donating and cataloging over 4,000 books at Academy of the Pacific Rim Charter Public School for a new library - Serving 432 plates of food at Rosie's Place - Preparing 23,900 meals with The Greater Boston Food Bank - Donating over 100 books through the KPMG Family for Literacy (KFFL) to various organizations - Sponsoring a family through Heading Home Up & Out program - Packing 200 backpacks for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Littles These statistics are just a few ways we impacted the community today, with more to come. Stay tuned for a video of highlights, coming soon! These days remind us of the power of community and the difference we can make when we come together.
