In the past year alone, we've seen a 73% increase in the number of guests accessing our Recovery Support Center. With #RecoveryMonth coming to a close, we want to emphasize our commitment to supporting people who are in all stages of recovery - because recovery is always possible. 💪 Using a peer support model, we help members heal and rebuild their lives while also striving to eliminate stigma around #addiction. We strive to provide a sanctuary for those who can thrive in a welcoming and mentoring environment that promotes recovery and safety. Yesterday, in partnership with the Planning Office for Urban Affairs (POUA), we celebrated the groundbreaking of 41 LaGrange Street, a brand-new #affordablehousing initiative in downtown Boston! The new building will provide much-needed permanent supportive housing for individuals exiting #homelessness in an integrated, mixed-income development. 70 units will be set-aside as permanent supportive housing for those experiencing homelessness, and 56 units will be targeted to #workforce and middle-income households, creating an integrated and diverse community. Speakers at the groundbreaking included our President & CEO, Karen LaFrazia; Bill Grogan, President of Planning Office for Urban Affairs (POUA); The Honorable Kim Driscoll, Lieutenant Governor; Sheila Dillon, Chief of Housing and Director of the Mayor’s Office of Housing; Ed Augustus, Secretary of the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities; Maurice Coleman, CDB Market Executive for Boston at Bank of America; Mark Teden, Vice President of Multifamily Programs at MassHousing; State Representative Aaron Michlewitz; State Senator Lydia Edwards; and City Councilor Ed Flynn. We are beyond grateful to our City and State leaders, and our lenders for their partnership, and for everyone who came together to celebrate the groundbreaking of this transformative project with us! Michelle, one of our recent Moving Ahead Program (MAP) graduates, shares her journey! After months of hard work and dedication, she's re-entering the #workforce with confidence and resilience, ready to take on the world. Her journey is one of strength and perseverance — not only has she completed MAP, but she's maintained her recovery from substance use and is on her way to securing #permanenthousing. She reflects, "I can only see great things for myself on the horizon, on matter what it is — I'll be ready for it." With the right support, you can always #rebuild your life, and graduates like Michelle are a testament to that. Read her full story on our blog: https://bit.ly/4dcvZ8C Head over to our website to learn more about how you can support MAP and our workforce services: https://bit.ly/3TTxYav

🌟 It's the start of #NationalHispanicHeritageMonth! As we honor the rich cultures and histories of the Hispanic and Latino communities, we also reflect on the strength, resilience, and contributions of our Hispanic guests. Currently, 22% of our shelter population identifies as Hispanic/Latino, a community that faces disproportionate challenges when it comes to #homelessness. Factors such as language barriers, immigration status, and systemic inequalities all contribute to greater housing instability for Hispanic individuals. At #SFH, we are committed to addressing these disparities by providing culturally responsive services, resources, and support. From bilingual staff to advocacy for more inclusive housing policies, we are working hard to ensure that everyone — regardless of their background and identity — has the opportunity to build a stable and fulfilling future. Director, Talent Acquisition at Transcarent - We are hiring!

🇺🇲 In honor of 9/11, Transcarent created space for employees to participate in a Day of Service for their local communities across the country. Meg Collings and I had the privilege of volunteering at St. Francis House in Boston, one of the largest day shelters on the East Coast. St. Francis House provides critical support for the homeless and income-instable members of our community by offering meals, behavioral health services, housing assistance, and workforce development. In just one morning, we helped serve over 350+ meals, ensuring each guest received a warm meal and a welcoming environment. They do this 365 days a year! It was an eye-opening and humbling experience that has inspired Meg and I to make service a regular practice in how we connect as colleagues. I encourage others to join in—coming together to serve our communities is more impactful and fulfilling than the usual happy hour, and it strengthens bonds while making a real difference. #CommunityImpact #CommunityService #ServiceOverHappyHours #StFrancisHouse Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e8p4Hsc6
