Over the last two years, Massachusetts has navigated a crisis that has pushed our state's shelter system beyond capacity. We are proud to be on the frontlines of this crisis, utilizing the research-backed, housing first approach, combining our permanent housing with comprehensive case management to ensure long-term housing stability. Our advocacy efforts are making a direct and important impact on legislation. Most notably, our team wrote and submitted language for an amendment to the state’s 2025 shelter funding bill that would provide protections for families with an individual who has a documented disability. Missing from the original legislation that provided carve-outs for veterans’ and domestic violence victims’ families, our disability provision became the sole amendment to pass unanimously. Heading Home served 42% of vulnerable families in this situation. In 2025, we remain committed to ending homelessness and increasing access to affordable permanent housing in Eastern Massachusetts.
