More than a week after recreational cannabis sales have begun in Ohio we look back at how their launch compares with Missouri and Maryland. Missouri’s median daily sales per retailer jumped 113% in the days immediately following rec launch. Ohio’s 52% increase in median daily sales per retailer more closely resembles Maryland’s 56% whole began rec sales in July of 2023. #ohiocannabis #cannabisindustry

During the week prior, a typical Ohio retailer was generating approximately $12,740 in medical only sales a day. When stores launched recreational sales on Tuesday, that number jumped to $33,864 - which is a 270% increase in total sales compared to the previous three Tuesdays. The first day of adult use sales in Ohio started off strong! Tuesday not only saw a large increase in traffic but the average item price was roughly 4% higher than expected. These factors combined led to a more than 3x increase in daily revenue 🤑. #cannabisindustry #ohiocannabis

710 Recap While most days of the week saw slightly lower sales compared to a typical week, the Wednesday 7/10 holiday saw a 9.3% spike in sales. All categories seemed to benefit slightly from the additional traffic, Concentrates saw the biggest boost by far with 82% higher sales compared to a typical Wednesday. 

The California cannabis industry has faced a challenging 2024, with six consecutive months of year-over-year decline 📉. However, there’s a bright spot: the Beverage category! It’s defying the trend with a six-month winning streak 📈. While some categories are showing occasional signs of resilience and not shrinking as rapidly as the overall market, beverages are the true standout, boasting a remarkable 15% positive spread compared to the market average 🍹. Holiday Recap 🎇 The days preceding the 4th saw large increases in sales, with Wednesday getting a major boost. However it appears most customers were getting their weekend shopping done early and the rest of the week softened significantly. Overall this lead to a modest 5% increase for the Monday-Sunday timeframe. 🍹 As we see with many event-based holidays, the beverage category was the big winner.
