Brad McElya, director of Clinical Pharmacy Strategy at Walgreens, is passionate about helping to end the HIV epidmic. He shares his insights in the most recent Leading By Example profile from U.S. Business Action to End HIV. "Walgreens began to align its clinical products and services for patients living with HIV and those at risk of acquiring HIV to help ensure we were helping to support the National HIV/AIDS Strategy. This helped us inform our team members of how they were part of something as great as ending an epidemic." Brad’s advice to other business leaders? “Get involved! Start with what you do as a company and think strategically about how you may use your strengths in the fight to end the HIV epidemic. Raise awareness and ask questions as a way of shining the spotlight on the need to advance the National HIV/AIDS Strategy.” For more inspiring insights, read Brad's complete profile on the Health Action Alliance website: https://lnkd.in/e9_cieXm #EndHIV #HIV #USBusinessActiontoEndHIV

Today, we honor National Latinx HIV Awareness Day - a vital opportunity to raise awareness about HIV and encourage HIV testing, prevention, and treatment among Hispanic/Latino people. While Latinos make up approximately 19% of the U.S. population, they accounted for nearly one-third of all new HIV diagnoses in 2022. Notably, Latino gay men now represent the highest number of new HIV cases in the country, according to recent surveillance reports by the CDC. Ending HIV requires a concentrated and vigorous effort across sectors in the United States, including government, education, healthcare, and business. We were proud to join members of U.S. Business Action to End HIV at the White House ¡Adelante! Summit last month, which brought together leaders across sectors to foster multidisciplinary collaboration, coordination, and commitment to strengthening efforts to address the HIV epidemic in Latino communities through a comprehensive and holistic approach. Employers can do their part by supporting healthcare access, promoting inclusive policies, combating stigma and discrimination, engaging in public-private partnerships, and reflecting on the impact HIV has had in communities across the nation. About half of menopausal women experience symptoms that disrupt their work, yet only a quarter receive support from formal work policies or programs. And many choose to stay silent about their experiences. "There is so much discomfort in talking about it, and there’s a lack of education on how to navigate it," said Celia Chen, a marketing consultant and health optimization coach. "There's a worry that if you tell a male coworker or boss what you’re going through, you’ll be looked down upon." But increasingly, companies are embracing menopause-friendly work policies in order to keep accomplished and talented women. Here are 9 ways to make a difference for women in your workplace: https://lnkd.in/gWg5QuBE
