Fix it by understanding that the safest thing to do is to leave the situation as soon as it’s safe for you to do so. If leaving isn't an immediate option, document every instance of abuse. Take photos of your injuries (if safe), note the date and time the incident took place and write out a detailed description of what happened. Store this information in a secure place, possibly outside of the home. Try to avoid dangerous areas like the kitchen or bathroom during arguments. These areas of the home typically have items that can be used as weapons or could be too tight for you to get out of quickly. Reach out to a domestic violence hotline to discreetly explore your options and develop a plan for when you can leave safely. YOU DESERVE SAFETY AND PEACE. LIFE DOESN'T HAVE TO FEEL LIKE THIS AND THERE ARE PEOPLE AND RESOURCES READY TO HELP WHEN YOU ARE READY. Today our resident domestic violence prevention advocate, Monetia James, shares about self worth. Remember, your value is inherent. It is not determined or affected by your circumstances. Self worth, as it pertains to DV, is important because the way you see yourself can impact your readiness to leave an abusive situation. Whether you’re a victim, a survivor, or an advocate, self worth plays a key role in ending the cycle of domestic abuse. #DV #domesticviolenceawarenessmonth #selfworth #value #domesticviolence #prevention #advocate #resources #help #breakthecycle #domesticabuse #stopdomesticviolence

This week our Chief People Officer, Rachel Kay, came to visit Hearst Charlotte. She hosted a series of town hall meetings to inform and invigorate the staff. We learned about her role in the company and how we could utilize the resources she and her team provide to shape and navigate our individual career paths. She even gifted us pearls of wisdom in the form of career advice! We were left with a collective feeling of optimism and unlimited possibility. Hearst is a company that values and invests in the development of its employees. We are proud to be part of such a company and we💚to see it! #value #invest #employees #inform #invigorate #team #staff #townhall #resources #navigate #careerpath #development #recriutment #retention #employeeengagement #performance #optimism #diversity #equity #inclusion #DEI

This week the Hearst Charlotte - DE&I Committee, together with the Hearst Women's ERG, hosted a virtual panel on domestic violence. #DV is such a weighty topic and our panelists did an amazing job sharing their journeys as well as information to help others and provide hope. It was beneficial to hear experiences from both a male and a female perspective. Having that diversity on the panel definitely contributed to the effectiveness of this event. If you, or a loved one, or a co-worker is experiencing a domestic violence situation You are NOT alone. There IS help. There IS hope. DM for resources. Thank you to our moderator, Darlene Gidron, our producer, Brooklyn Marshall, and our panelists, Courtney Baker, Jason Accashian, and Maria Zuluaga MA, LMFT. You all are ROCKSTARS!!! Thank you for what you do! #domesticviolence #stopdomesticviolence #DV #help #hope #warningsigns #resources #diversity #equity #inclusion #DEI #HearstCharlotteDEI
