It’s very humbling when an iconic U.S. magazine like Cigar Aficionado includes Heatherwood’s Spy Ring Golf Club in its feature article on America’s Best Short Golf Courses alongside other recognizable names such as The Cradle at Pinehurst, The Hay at Pebble Beach, The Preserve at Bandon Dunes and the Chain at Streamsong. Not too shabby to be on the cover next to Yellowstone’s Rip either – hey Cole Hauser! Big thank you to author Jeff Williams, his article “Short But Sweet” does a great job of distilling the history of each of these special courses. This is more proof that Spy Ring course designer Tyler Rae is well on his way to becoming one of the great designers when mentioned next to Gil Hanse, Ben Crenshaw, Bill Coore, Peter Hay, Mike Keiser and Alister Mackenzie.
