We're continuing our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month by shining today's spotlight on Brayant Benitez! Brayant Benitez joined the Accounting team as Accounts Receivable Coordinator in August 2023. He manages daily accounts receivable for 7 World Trade Center, US Bank Tower, 1735 Market Street, 120 Broadway, 55 Broad Street, and Inspire Workspace. ❓ Can you tell us about your cultural background and heritage? 🔵 My upbringing in Orange, New Jersey, with Mexican heritage, has been a distinctive experience. Although I was born and raised in New Jersey, my parents, who immigrated from Mexico City, ensured that our household was deeply infused with Mexican influences. My mother mandated that we speak Spanish at home, observe a variety of Mexican holidays, and savor traditional Mexican cuisine. This blend of cultural experiences has afforded me a rich and diverse perspective, allowing me to navigate and appreciate the intersection of two distinct worlds. ❓ What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you? 🔵 Hispanic Heritage Month holds significant meaning for me as a time to celebrate and reflect on the rich and diverse contributions of Hispanic cultures. It is an opportunity to honor the heritage, history, and achievements of Hispanic communities, recognizing the profound impact they have had on various aspects of society, from art and literature to science and politics. ❓ Are there any cultural traditions or customs that you hold dear? 🔵 One cultural tradition that I deeply value is the celebration of Día de Los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead. This Mexican tradition provides an opportunity to honor and remember our deceased loved ones. The observance typically involves setting up altars adorned with marigolds, candles, photographs, as well as preparing and consuming traditional foods such as pan de Muertos (a type of bread) and sugar skulls. Amid a fast-paced environment, this tradition allows me to pause, reconnect with my heritage, and preserve the memory of my ancestors. ❓ What is a family tradition you wish to pass down, that your parents/grandparents have passed down to you? 🔵 A family tradition I am eager to pass down is the observance of Día de Los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead. This tradition, which has been handed down from my parents and grandparents, I feel is a profound way to honor and remember our ancestors. I am committed to ensuring that this cherished tradition continues through future generations, preserving both its cultural significance and the familial bonds it fosters. ❓ How has your heritage shaped your approach to work and collaboration? 🔵 My heritage has profoundly shaped my approach to work and collaboration in several meaningful ways. Growing up with a strong connection to my Mexican roots, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the values of community, respect, and shared responsibility.

Here at Silverstein, we believe in celebrating our diverse community and the incredible people who make it so special. That's why this month, we're shining a spotlight on our talented Hispanic and Latinx professionals. Get ready to meet some new faces and rediscover some familiar ones - all of whom are making a lasting impact at Silverstein. John Andres is our Assistant Chief Engineer at 1177 Avenue of the Americas. He began his journey with Silverstein Properties in September 2013 as an Engineer Helper at 4 World Trade Center. Through dedication and hard work, John earned his certifications and became an Engineer in 2017, transferring to 3 World Trade Center before it officially opened. His commitment to excellence paved the way for his promotion to Assistant Chief Engineer at 1177 Avenue of the Americas in 2020. ❓ Can you tell us about your cultural background and heritage? 🔵 I’m half Dominican and half Salvadoran, so I blend the rich cultural traditions from both the Caribbean and Central America. The Dominican side gives me a love for lively music and flavorful cuisine, while the Salvadoran side brings a focus on family values and cherished dishes like pupusas. Both heritages deeply influence my perspective and appreciation for diversity. ❓ What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you? 🔵 Hispanic Heritage means a lot to me—it’s a deep connection to my roots and identity. It’s about celebrating the rich traditions, vibrant culture, and the resilience of our communities. For me, it’s a reminder of the values and stories that shape who I am, from the music I enjoy daily to the family gatherings that keep us close. It’s not just about looking back at our history, but also about living it every day and sharing that with others ❓ How has your heritage shaped your approach to work and collaboration? 🔵 My Hispanic heritage has really shaped how I work with others. I’ve learned the importance of showing respect and listening to different viewpoints. I also value teamwork and the close-knit feel of a family, which helps me create a supportive and collaborative work environment. Plus, growing up with diverse perspectives has made me more open and understanding of different mindsets, so I’m better at tackling challenges with an inclusive approach. ❓ How do you celebrate your culture and heritage? 🔵 My culture and heritage are a core part of who I am and are celebrated daily. Whether it’s listening to Anthony Santos on my commute or sharing stories and traditions with friends and colleagues, these practices keep my cultural identity vibrant. It’s something that’s always present in my life. Along with sharing the stories and traditions, people also seem to really enjoy when pernil (roast pork) and moro (red rice and beans) make an appearance at the potluck.

New Yorkers can now lease an apartment in the former HQ of Goldman Sachs at 55 Broad St., where it was based from the late 1960s to the early 1980s. Across the street, in those days, were the offices of Drexel Burnham Lambert, while up the road stood the grand homes for Bank of America Corp. and what was then J.P. Morgan & Co. "According to Larry Silverstein — for whom this office-to-residential conversion will be a first — the building’s wedding cake shape is ideal for such a project, because no void had to be created for apartments to get light. 'It has a large base, but then over the base the building comes in and rises, so the tower over the base is perfect for residential use,” Silverstein said in an interview from his office in 7 World Trade Center. “Every apartment is going to have windows, windows, windows.'"
