Through their basketball, academics and community programs, they have managed to achieve: •100% high school graduation •100% college acceptance •Over $5 million in college scholarships received •Over $550K prep school scholarships received This kind of meaningful impact is why the Riverside Hawks is one of the programs the Heisman Trophy Trust is proud to support each year. The Madison Square Boys & Girls Club is both a founding member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and the oldest Boys & Girls Club in New York City. Originally created to provide recreational and vocational programs to keep young people away from gang activity on the east side of Manhattan, today they continue the legacy of effective youth development in academics, character and healthy lifestyles in New York City’s most under-resourced communities. Every year, the Heisman Trophy Trust supports hundreds of organizations like the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club that make a positive impact in their communities. Check out MadisonSquare.org for more information. #Heisman #MoreThanATrophy

Kids in the Game was founded in 2003 with the belief that kids should be active, try new things, and have positive adult mentors to look up to. They offer school programs, summer camps, and sports programs to kids in New York City, all with the goal of "...providing positive experiences and opportunities through sports and creative play." Through sports, games, and programs like their Creative Club and Discover Club, they strive to connect kids from multiple backgrounds and instill in them a positive sense of self. The positive impact they have on the kids in New York City is why Kids in the Game is one of the organizations the Heisman Trophy Trust is proud to support each year. Mark Teixeira is a three-time Major League Baseball All-Star and 2009 World Series champion. But for all his success on the baseball diamond, he is just as highly regarded for his work off the field. Teixeira established scholarship endowments at his alma maters of Mount Saint Joseph High School in Baltimore and Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. He is a board member for The Emerald Corridor Foundation, which not only works to build and restore safe green spaces and waterways in Atlanta, but also helps strengthen the community via education, job training and employment opportunities. He has been a supporter of DREAM, a New York nonprofit that has been supported by the Heisman Trophy Trust. DREAM is a youth development organization that uses the power of teams to inspire inner-city youth to recognize their potential and realize their dreams through its school, after-school and summer programs. This tremendous positive impact in multiple communities is why Mark Teixeira was awarded the Heisman Humanitarian Award in 2018. #Heisman #MoreThanATrophy

During her high school career at Pillow Academy in Greenwood, MS, Dia Chawla learned that while winning is about the hard work you’re willing to put in, it must be acknowledged that not everyone has the same opportunities to excel. So while in high school, she began an ACT Preparation class with seven African American students from a nearby public school. She later invited seven students from her own school to join the class, thus founding the ACT Diversity Preparation Club.  On the field, Dia was a varsity starter on the tennis team in sixth grade and later won a state title. She led her basketball team in free throw percentage her junior year and secured a spot as a key reserve on the 2020 Academy High School basketball state championship team. Dia also captained the state championship dance team and has won 12 individual first place and high scores in Mid South regional competitive dance. Today, Dia is a student at Georgetown University, and is the Co-President of the Georgetown Bipartisan Coalition. This level of overall excellence is why Dia Chalwa was a recipient of the 2021 Heisman High School Scholarship. #Heisman #MoreThanATrophy

Each year, the Heisman Trophy Trust supports organizations that make a positive impact, especially for our children. Hit the Books in Harlem, New York, is a prime example. Through tutoring, mentorship and mixed martial arts, Hit The Books provides a safe environment where kids aged 6-13 can succeed intellectually, emotionally, and physically,  both inside and outside of the classroom. Hit The Books wants kids to know that “Tough Times Don’t Last. Tough People Do!” Check out HitTheBooksNYC.org for more information. #Heisman #MoreThanATrophy

The East Harlem Tutorial Program (EHTP) "envisions a world where all young people access an unconditionally supportive education that offers them the freedom to embrace—and build on—their inherent power as learners." Founded in 1958 as a children's reading group, EHTP is now a multi-site after-school program for public school students, and a network of charter schools focused on helping kids in East Harlem attend and graduate from college. EHTP is committed to serving 25% of East Harlem students by 2025. This kind of positive impact is why EHTP is one of the organizations the Heisman Trophy Trust is proud to support each year. Check out EHTP.org for more information. #Heisman #MoreThanATrophy

The Companions in Courage Foundation was founded by NHL Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine as a way to connect hospitalized children with their family, friends and heroes. Companions in Courage raises funds to build interactive playrooms in hospitals throughout North America. These playrooms give kids a place to connect to family, friends and celebrities during each hospital stay. Because of his stalwart belief that "no child in the fight for life or health should ever have to go through it alone," Pat LaFontaine was presented with the Heisman Humanitarian Award in 2008.
