Yesterday, #LeonardoHelicopters hosted an Offshore Wind Day in #Philadelphia, focusing on the fast-growing U.S. renewable energy market. The event gathered industry leaders and logistics experts from the offshore wind sector to discuss challenges and insights gained since OSW operations began in June 2023. A panel led by Michael Tosi from HeliService USA and Ole-Erik Endrerud from Shoreline Wind engaged attendees in a discussion on improving offshore wind logistics through better integration of vessel and helicopter operations for both nearshore and far-offshore wind farms. The panel highlighted the strategic and proven advantages of using helicopters in O&M throughout the entire wind project’s lifecycle. The event also provided a preview of an upcoming white paper from HeliService USA and Shoreline, offering new strategies and a data-driven approach to enhancing efficiency in offshore wind. As the U.S. renewable energy market expands, events like Leonardo’s Offshore Wind Day are essential for shaping the future of efficient offshore operations. #OffShoreWind

On October 23, Leonardo showcased its commitment to the Harbor Pilot Community at the American Pilot Association Biennial Convention held in #NewOrleans, LA. During this event, a roundtable discussion featured industry leaders, including Michael Tosi, CEO of HeliService USA; Capt Curt Nehring from HP Columbia River Bar; Richard Bryson, Technical Capture Manager at Collins Aerospace; and Michael Bucari, #Leonardo's Head of Marketing in the U.S. Together, they explored the vital role helicopters play in enhancing pilot operations, particularly in pilot deployment, hoisting operations, and upholding industry safety standards. A significant focus of the discussion was the recent changes introduced by the Federal Aviation Administration, notably the implementation of Helicopter Emergency Cargo (#HEC). This transformative technology has not only improved hoisting technologies but also significantly enhanced safety measures in the sector. Capt. Nehring emphasised the efficiency gains provided by helicopters, explaining how they reduce pilots' workload before their critical missions, resulting in improved operational outcomes and a brighter future for the industry. #LeonardoHelicopters remains dedicated to supporting the Harbor Pilot community, boasting a diverse range of products tailored specifically for these essential operations. The company is eager to collaborate with Harbor Pilots to further advance #sustainability through enhanced operational efficiency and bolster industry #safety standards.

Our CEO, Michael Tosi, not only kicked off the event but piloted our Leonardo AW169 aircraft, giving a firsthand look at the essential work we do offshore every day. As a proud veteran-owned and operated company, we’re thrilled that 95% of our team lives locally, helping to create well paid jobs in Connecticut and the entire New England region. A huge thank you to Kristin Urbach, Connecticut Wind Collaborative, Bradley Neuberth, WINDEA Offshore, Harry Boardsen and Bridgeport Boatworks for making this day happen! 🙌

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗻𝗲? 🚁🌊 ⛴️ ➡️ Stability: A moving vessel offers a more predictable and stable platform, allowing for greater control during hoisting operations, even in challenging sea conditions. ➡️ Safety: With the vessel in motion, both the helicopter and the vessel stay synchronized with the natural movement of the sea. This reduces unexpected shifts, making hoisting operations significantly safer. ➡️ More Power: Following the movement and speed of the vessel provides more lift, giving the helicopter increased power for hoisting. #Safety #HeliServiceUSA #Hoisting #OSW #Logistics #Efficiency
