As we get deeper into fall and even into winter, we have cover crops on our minds. One of the plants included in our fall cover crop mix is Daikon. This cover crop mix helps to increase soil porosity and loosen the soil before the next crop is planted in the spring. It grows best in our cool, mild winter months and blooms profusely as an early spring nectar source for native pollinators. 🌿 Pharm Spotlight: We’re harvesting Calendula this week! There’s an art to harvesting Calendula, as Mark Disharoon tells us. He is an integral part of our farm team (he's been with Herb Pharm for more than 20 years!) and teaches in our Herbaculture Internship Program. Each flower head must be harvested by hand, with a twist or roll and a flick of the wrist. This ensures that only the Calendula (Calendula officinalis) flowers are harvested, not the stems. #calendula #calendulaofficinalis #farmharvest #harvest
