  • Winner of multiple sustainability awards, Mirra 2 was the first office chair developed from the ground up with environmental responsibility in mind. Since it was introduced in 2003, we’ve made the chair 30 percent lighter and converted the chair’s nylon base and spine to 100 percent recycled content, further reducing the chair’s carbon footprint.

  • Charles and Ray Eames famously continued to iterate on their designs even after they were done. At Herman Miller, we use the same approach, improving a product when possible through process or material innovation. For example, the new bamboo-based upholstery option for Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman reduces the carbon footprint of the chair’s materials by up to 35 percent. It’s also soft, durable, scratch resistant and colorfast—perfect for high-traffic areas. • Originally commissioned as outdoor seating for the home of industrialist J. Irwin Miller in Columbus, Indiana, in 1958, the Eames Aluminum Group designed by Charles and Ray Eames features cast aluminum and a seat-back suspension that was a major technical achievement at the time. With its curvilinear silhouette and suspension comfort, it has always been a popular choice in the office or at home. And it’s now available in more textiles and leathers, giving you more ways to make it your own. Eames Office | Available from Herman Miller in the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Africa. • Bring your storage home with the Nelson Basic Cabinet Series. Six newly reissued pieces of this collection, which George Nelson designed in 1946, can help you tailor your storage for what you need today and evolve with you as your needs change tomorrow. Available from Herman Miller in the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Africa.

  • Markus Jehs and Jürgen Laub met during an internship in New York in 1990 and opened their design studio, Jehs+Laub, in 1994. Both graduates of Schwabisch Gmund University in Germany, they’ve designed furniture, lighting, tableware, and interiors for top brands like Cassina, Fritz Hansen, and Mercedes-Benz. Rooted in the Bauhaus tradition, their approach is simple: “How a design looks should not be far from what it does,” says Laub. "So we resist styling. Function brings its own aesthetic.” Their partnership with Herman Miller feels like a natural extension of this philosophy. “What is already in the DNA of Herman Miller—starting in a very industrial way and then getting more human, more emotional in the expression of a design—that is something we very much want our furniture to achieve," says Jehs. Designed in 1956 by George Nelson with shallow sides and inviting curves, the Nelson Coconut Lounge Chair lets you sit comfortably in any position and move with surprising ease. With its distinctive three-point triangular cushion that evokes a chunk of coconut, the chair remains true to Nelson’s design but is made with a more sustainable polymer shell. And it’s now available in more textiles, including Girard Checker, and leathers, giving you more ways to make it your own: https://lnkd.in/gt4eeyy3 Available from Herman Miller in the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Africa. • The Eames Sofa, the final piece designed by the Eames Office after Charles Eames' passing in 1978, has been in continuous production since 1984. Created to complement the Eames Soft Pad chair and Eames Chaise, it reflects their commitment to simplified forms and honest materials. With clean lines, an angled profile, and combination of walnut or teak, leather, and polished aluminum, it embodies mid-century modern design. Perfect for home or office, the Eames Sofa offers both luxury and comfort. In the mid-1950s—soon after he would become founding director for Herman Miller’s textile division—Alexander Girard began a collaboration with architect and friend, Eero Saarinen, who was designing a home in Columbus, Indiana, for the Miller family. The modernist abode was quintessential Saarinen, with Girard’s trademark use of colors and textiles warming up the interiors—including his genre-defining conversation pit. Placed as the pit’s centerpiece was a flower-shaped table, specially made for Xenia Miller and modeled after Girard’s own table that she admired. It would go through different iterations over the years—typical of Girard’s “living interior” mentality that design could, and should, evolve—before taking its final form in brass, with scalloped edges to complement its base. The table is now being offered in powder-coated steel, in two sizes and colors. Miller House circa 1953, photo by Baltazar Korab courtesy of the Library of Congress. • When it comes to the environment, continuous improvement can have a big impact. Designed by Berlin-based Studio 7.5, Mirra was the first chair to go through our Design for the Environment (DfE) protocol in 2003, so it was already leaner than other chairs. And in 2013 we made it 30 percent lighter through dematerialization. Then last year we cut the chair’s carbon footprint by up to 17 percent (including biogenic carbon) by changing the nylon base, spine, and seat frame to 100 percent recycled material. All our efforts have made the Mirra 2 Chair the lowest-carbon high-performance work chair to win both design and ergonomic awards. *Based on 2025 sales forecast.
