Guyana’s progress in building a model national healthcare system was the focus of a recent panel discussion at the Concordia Annual Summit in New York City. The panel featured Guyana’s President, H.E. Dr. Mohammed Irfaan Ali, who was joined by our CEO John Hess and Dr. Rachel Vreeman, MD, MS, of the Arnhold Institute for Global Health at Mount Sinai to discuss a national healthcare initiative launched in 2022 by the Guyana Ministry of Health, the Mount Sinai Health System and Hess. President Ali described his vision “to build a world-class ecosystem to support healthcare provision for the people of Guyana.” A team of more than 40 healthcare experts from Mount Sinai is working with the Government of Guyana to enhance primary care, develop specialized services and modernize Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
